  1. Hi Last weekend I had a chance to take a few pictures of the qualification and trial runs during the Red Bull Crashed Ice event in Québec City (Canada). Shot in raw, PP in LR 6.3, Sharpenning and Noise Reduction with Nik's Sharpener and Dfine Here are the settings on my X-T1... High Performance Mode is On, (obviously!), Pre AF is On, AF-Mode was on Zone, 5 x 3 Zone, and only the central PDAF points were used, Release /Focus Priority is set to Focus (both for Af-S and Af-C), Face detection = Off Eye detection = Off Shutter on MS only. AF is on Continuous and the Drive Mode is on CH (8fps), OIS = off, Shooting RAW only with a 300mb/sec 64gb SD UHS II, no problems with the buffer The Flickr album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskmz8ipW Thanks for looking Crahsed Ice 2015 #31 by Gilles Baribeau, on Flickr crahsed Ice 2015 #44 by Gilles Baribeau, on Flickr crahsed Ice 2015 #41 by Gilles Baribeau, on Flickr crahsed Ice 2015 #43 by Gilles Baribeau, on Flickr

  3. Hi ! I went to one of the local ski center last Saturday with my X-T1 and XF50-140 + XF1.4TC combo to shoot some university level FIS sanction Slalom race (they are fast!). There was also a Free Style event on the slope right by the slalom course so I was able to get a few SIF ( Skiers In Flight) pics as well. 4. Hi ! Here's a few pics of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup from last week-end at the Mont Sainte-Anne ski resort in Québec, Canada. It was the 26th edition of the Velirium, a great event that brings all of the best riders from around the world to compete on very technical and steep 2.9km course. The winner did it in under 4 minutes, so at a average speed of 43.5 km/hr but in some section of the course they reach top of 80 km/hr....they are fast ! My X-T1 and XF 50-140 combo did quite good, even with the riders coming out of shaded area into the bright sun, lost frames from AF errors was under 10 %, just about the same as the number of frame lost because of framing errors when trying to follow the riders with the EVF. I know I'm going to love my X-T2 Shot with a X-T1 and the XF50-140 f/2.8, AF-C, Drive on CH (8fps), Zone Focus (3x3 grid), Raw, PP in LR 6.6.1 and the Nik Collection. 5. Hi Here's a few from the practice runs of the Red Bull Redirect competitions. It is an urban freeski competition boasting the most innovative and challenging re-directional features in the sport today. Shot with a X-T1 + XF50-140mm and the XF1.4TC for some of the pics The Flickr album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskuvJtyK Thanks for looking ! 6. Hi again! Here is a few pics from l'Épreuve du Nord, a SAE mini-Baja endurance race. The Engineering Department at Laval University has been hosting the northernmost race in the circuit for the last 11 years, it's also the only one to take place in the snow ! It's the second time that I get a chance to shoot this really amazing and gruesome 2 hours event, out of the 27 Bajas on the starting line only 14 will make it to the end! 7. Hi All ! This is a classic here during the Winter Carnaval, this sport is very specific to the St-Lawrence River and it's history, I don't think there is any other place where you can see something like it. This really active and dynamic sport is very demanding for the athletes, in this race the pro class will do a total of 15 km, crossing the river three time. During the winter there is a total of 7 races along the St-Lawrence River, and lucky me, two of them are in my home town, Quebec City. Not much ice on the river this year made it easy and fast for the "canoteurs", but it was less spectacular for us the spectators and photographers. Never the less it was a great opportunity for some good action shot. Here's a link to the Wikipedia article about the sport: Ice canoeing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I used mostly my X-T1 with the Xf50-140mm + XF1.4 TC and a second body, my good old X-E1, paired with the XF16-55 for close shoot. I was standing right by one of the three buoys delimiting the race course, so it was easy to get some shots of the canoes coming toward me. The Flickr Album: Course CMQ 2016 Thanks for looking ! 10. A couple of shots from a Grape Stomp event at a winery in Minnesota. I had a lot of fun shooting casual portraits and some other stuff, and fun sampling the wine too.
