  1. My X-T1 is being strange. With my battery grip attached, SOMETIMES, it won't turn on, or wake from sleep. I can't figure out a pattern to it. Removing the battery from the grip will allow the camera to wake and be used, but putting a battery back in kills it again. To reset the issue, I have to remove the grip, cycle the camera on and off, then re-attach the grip with a battery in it, and then turn it on. It works for a while, as normal, turning on and off as expected. Then, a while later (again, no pattern that I can discern) it won't turn on or wake, and I have to do remove the grip again. All batteries are fully charged. I haven't changed the settings anywhere that I can think of or find, and every part of the battery grip seems to be in working condition. I assume I'll have to get with Fuji about it, but I wondered if anyone had any similar experiences.
  2. Hello, I just recently purchased the Fuji X-T1. I'm an over the road truck driver and thought that the X-T1 would be the perfect fit for my lifestyle. Last winter I went through a divorce and the ex got almost all of the Canon bodies and L lenses. After the divorce I found myself free to do what I wanted, left the insurance business and got my CDL. Now I'm traveling the country and having a blast. All that was missing was a new camera system. Along with the X-T1 and kit lens, I bought the 35 1.4 and the Rokinon 8mm. I also bought the Digital Juice Suction Cup Mount with a Giotti Ballhead. I already have the Vello Shutterboss, so I'm hoping to do some really cool night photography while I'm in motion. I look forward to being a part of this community. Kurt
  3. I've had some trouble getting the WiFi connection between X-T1 and my iPhone4 working. It would only work for a short time before the connection got lost. After googling for help and trying different settings I think I understand what went wrong and how to fix it. Glad to share my solution with you. Connection can get lost for 3 reasons, you have to eliminate all 3 to keep a stable WiFi-connection, even if you don't take a picture for some time. 1) X-T1 goes to sleep after a few minutes. Set: Menu/Setup2/power management/auto power off/off : X-T1 stays awake 2) iPhone4 goes to sleep. Set settings/general/automatic lock/never : iPhone stays awake 3) iPhone4 goes looking for a WiFi network that will give access to the internet to update your mail/whatsapp/facebook etcetera. Set settings/Wi-Fi/Ask to join networks/off and set settings/cellular/cellular data/off and set settings cellular/cellular data network/off : iPhone stays glued to the WiFi connection with your X-T1 And, one final advice: if you are in the picture yourself set the self timer of the X-T1 to 2 seconds. Otherwise everybody else in the picture will be smiling at the birdie and you will be staring at your iPhone, taking the picture. (shooting menu2/self timer/2 sec) See attached picture for an example of how stupid that looks! Good luck, hope your learning curve can be steeper than mine. Once you know how to do it it, it's not difficult. Hans, the Netherlands
  4. Mother robin feeding her 3 babies. The nest was built on a low branch and I stood on a chair out of sight with my X-T1 and 55-200mm and waited for her to return every 10 minutes with a beak full of worms and bugs. They only stay in the nest for about 2 weeks and then they are gone.

  8. Hello All. I have always been obsessed with capturing the night sky (who isn't). Im relatively new to the fuji system and the following are two images I made recently. I live in Southern Connecticut and am frankly surprised at how much the combination of the X-T1 and the rokinon 12mm can see. Camera Settings: Long exposure noise reduction on / RAW / used fuji camera remote app for iOS Partial Milky Way Shot: 2000 ISO / F2.8 / 15sec Perseid Meteor Shower Shot: 1250 ISO / F2.0 / 15sec Both processed in Lightroom CC. I would love to hear the communities comments on things I can do (camera settings) to get better shots. I'm mostly concerned about noise.
  9. Hello Fuji X Forum, I'm a new X Series user, just joined the club today. Hello everyone... After researching and been trying for a while, I still am not able to get the flash fired on my X-T1 Graphite Edition. The Flash Mode setting greyed out all the time. The firmware version is 3.10 and necessary setting to get the flash to work was done accordingly including: Silent Mode = OFF Shutter Type = Mechanical (I've tried with M & E with the same result) Preview Exp. in Manual Mode = OFF The flash EF-X8 that comes with the X-T1 was used and popped up... Does anyone has had similar problem...? Any suggestion or recommendation...any way that I can check if the X-T1 flash option or the EF-X8 is OK? Thanks & Regards, RR.
  10. I noticed a strange thing happening earlier. It's not a fault, as it's mentioned in the fine print of the Firmware updates, but it's counter intuitive in a way, so I thought I should warn you guys. The problem is with Continuous focus. What I have noticed is that continuous focus does not work as normal when the shutter mode is set to ES or MS + ES mode. If the camera is in CH or CL, instead of refocussing for each shot, the focus remains locked throughout the burst. So if your subject is moving towards or away from you, only the first shot is in focus. This happens even if the mechanical shutter is being used in MS + ES mode. Not sure why they wrote the firmware this way! So if you're a wedding shooter using ES during the ceremony to keep quiet, make sure to switch back into MS for the aisle shots.
  11. What does everyone use as a light, easy to travel with tripod with the X-T1? The two I am currently looking at are the Platypod Pro and a Gorillapod. What do you all recommend?
  12. I will make outing now: I always considered weather sealing more as a gimmick. First, becuase I usually don't shoot under the rain, and second becuase even in case of rain, I was always pretty confident that my camera can handle it (as you can see in the image). I don't know if in the long term there could be any damage, but for sure my X-E2 worked perfectly until the day I jumped into a river with it (turned on!) in order to save my life (story here). I say this, because one of the key differences between the X-T1 and X-T10 is weather sealing. So feel free to tell us what you think about weather sealing... is it something you absolutely need, a nice to have feature but no deal-breaker, or is weather sealing something that does not influence your buying decision at all? Long story short: is the lack of weather sealing on the X-T10 a deal-breaker for you?
  13. I was originally considering getting the Fuji 27mm (mostly for its compact size), but after playing around with my 18–135 at both 27mm and 35mm, I found that I preferred the 35mm focal length. Now, I'm not sure which would be a better purchase; the 32mm F1.8 Zeiss, or the 35mm F2 Fuji. The price difference is $100 and the pro to the fuji is the WR, while the pro of the Zeiss is that its faster. Another Fuji pro is that they will improve the lens performance via firmware. What do you guys think?
  14. Attached are two screen shots of the same X-T1 RAF file at 100% magnification. One is the file open in the most up-to-date version of the Fuji raw processor "Powered by SILKYPIX" (downloaded from the Fuji support site), the other is the file in Photo Ninja. With my RAF files, I have now tried Lightroom 5, Lightroom 6.1, Iridient, Capture One, Photo Ninja, and SilkyPix. Lightroom 5 is by far the worst, in terms of fine detail. Lightroom 6.1, Capture One, Iridient, and SilkyPix seem to be right on the same level to me, and the dramatic stand-out for me is Photo Ninja (in terms of fine detail, and film-like highlight recovery) With P.N. the colors are harder to work with, and don't look as pleasing as easily as they do with something more robust like Lightroom or Capture One. For colors and skin tones, I still find Lightroom and Capture One to be the best. This COULD be because I'm very used to using Lightroom, and have only used PN sporadically because I only use it when I really want super fine detail from my images.
