  1. Hello I have a X-T10 and recently bought the XF 14mm f2.8 R lens. Beautiful lens. As I have watched, read in blogs, and in the lens manual, this lens is supposed to turn the camera from Auto Focus mode to Manual Focus mode when pulling back the focusing ring/clutch. If I have the camera in “M” (Manual) mode, the lens will NOT work in Autofocus mode, but if I have the camera in either “S” or “C” (autofocus) mode, then the lens will work in Autofocus mode and furthermore, if in the same “S” or “C” (autofocus) mode and I pull the focusing clutch back, the camera will be automatically turned into Manual mode. That feature is not working, and this is the second copy of the lens since I had to return the first one because of the same problem. Is there any setting in the camera that I am missing? Please advise. Thank you all in advance. WideSpace
  2. I've had my XE-1 for about a year now and love the camera - it's really gotten me into photography. I started out with the 18-55 kit lens, then added the 35mm 1.4 a few months later. While the kit lens is great, I LOVE the way pictures turn out from the 35mm. I think partially its the prime forcing me to better compose my shot, but also there's something special about this lens. I'd like to expand my kit, but am having trouble deciding which way to go. My initial thought was to go with the 14mm, because of the small size and the ability to increase my focal length range into wide angle. I like taking architectural and landscape shots on vacations, and have felt limited sometimes by the 18mm on the kit. I also really like shooting at night though, and the extra stops on the 35mm have been helpful for a non-stabilized lens - so enter the 16mm. The more reviews I read about the 16mm, it seems like a really amazing lens. I'd get the extra focal length, but could potentially use it for more situations. Both to shoot street at night and to shoot people indoors, without the fear of distortion that I might get with the 14mm. On the other hand, when I look at what I use generally walking around when not on vacation, I tend to shoot at either 23mm or 35mm on the zoom. Which leads me to wonder if getting the 23mm or a used X100s might make most sense. It would provide more enjoyment when I'm not traveling, but wouldn't necessarily expand my range of available focal lengths. Sorry for the rambling post - at the end of the day, I think the ranking of characteristics are 1) lens I love using - the 35mm has a really special quality and 2) expand my focal length range. Appreciate everyone's thoughts and experiences! Here's a link to give an idea of what I like to shoot: 500px.com/wdshuck
  3. I'm a Canon shooter, but I'm looking to invest in a smaller, "every-day" camera. I've picked the X-T1 and would like some recommendations on lenses from people who have used them. I'm specifically looking for quality and sharpness and versatility. I'm curious if anybody would recommend other lenses over the one's I've picked: Primes: XF 14mm f/2.8 R (for landscapes, real estate interiors) XF 27mm f/2.8 (love the small size, For general walk-around, street photography) XF 56mm f/1.2 R (for portraits and street photography) Zooms: XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS (comfort zone, low price, small footprint. Probably my go-to lens everyday lens) XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR (I love my long zooms for festivals, concerts, portraits, etc..). Need to have one in my kit. I currently shoot with a 5D Mark III with a 24-70 f/2.8 and a 70-300 f/4-5.6. I love my Canon gear, but it's too big and heavy to use for casual/daily use. I currently shoot mostly portraits and events (conventions, festivals and retail events) but am starting to get into real estate as well.
  4. Hello! This is my first post here. I'm an enthusiast and recently got an X-T1 Graphite and the 35mm/1.4 lens, which I absolutely adore so far. While I love the 35 for everyday shooting (mostly street, casual, environmental portraits, etc), I just took a trip out west to Oregon to go camping and found myself a bit limited by the FOV for nature/landscape/astrophotography and often had to shoot vertically to compensate. While I was able to take some nice shots (see below), I realized I would like to complement my 35 with something wider to give me more range— I've narrowed it down to the following options: 14mm 2.8, 16mm 1.4, and the 10-24mm f/4. I guess what I'm looking for is image quality and character, and versatility/practicality. Size and weight are a consideration, but I tried the 10-24 and 16mm in person and neither felt too crazy heavy or unbalanced with my X-T1. Budget isn't really an issue either. I'm leaning towards the 16mm (due to reviews I've seen, the sharpness, 1.4, and the weather sealing) or the 10-24 (due to the versatility and the fact it hits a lot of great FOV's, image quality, and IS). What would you recommend? Thanks! Trevor
  5. Hey, a couple of pics from today's morning in Lueneburg (Lower Saxony, Germany). Unfortunately I realised a bit to late how foggy it was outside so that most of the fog was already gone. Shouldn't have watched "How to get away with murder" on Netflix before getting up Finn

Uploading this as a colour test. My uploads so far seem a little off on colour and I'm wondering if something is happening when the forum is re-sizing the images, like stripping out the colour profile!? This is uploaded as 1600 pixels and the others were uploaded at 2000. By the looks of the thumbnail on teh upload it may well be the same...

Recently we ran a photography holiday to the Lake District in the UK. It was one of the most successful ones we have done to date with 12 people attending. We had some pretty wet weather but of course we braved the conditions and it actually made for some quite atmospheric images.
