Unfortunately, budget is an issue. My understanding is that Gitzo is THE ONE, but that comes at a price. I didn't like the BeeFree head neither the leg locking system. What set it apart is the weight, almost 50% lighter than anything else out there.

This is my thought as well, is the carbon versions truly worth it? I reason with myself that since I hike a lot, weight actually is a good reason to go for a carbon version.

I'm so lucky that I now barrow a Sirui N-2205X, which is a little heavier and bigger than the T-2205X, but if the build quality is identical then I think I'll opt for the Sirui tripod.

The BeeFree is scary small, it's so small that I don't understand how it could practically work as an all-round hiking tripod
The smallest breeze should tip it over, and without any hooks on the center column theres no way to anchor it more either.

I will test the Sirui N-2205X during this weekend. It's a little heavier than I would prefer (approx. 1.7kg), but its very compact in its case.

So, The camera arrived last night, back from Fuji in Edison. They were brilliant. I called after I had seen that the camera had arrived, via UPS (Thurs). They explained the process and gave me a tracking number. I was told that I could call any time, that they understood separation anxiety.  I called on Tuesday to see what the status was, and was told it was at the repair desk as we spoke. Wondered about timing, going to see my mom and would like the camera for the visit. Thursday afternoon it arrived back home. Top plate was replaced, camera cleaned inside and out. The firmware was updated. All my settings were reset, but, I have them written down and can get them all sorted out in a few minutes.

    I have an XT-1.
Set it to manual mode and press the AFL button to focus.
This has been my preferred method to shoot with all my Fuji's and I'm pretty sure they all work the same way.
My X100T has a combined AEL/AFL button but functions the same way in the manual mode, as did my XPro-1 (I think) when I had it.
    Hope this helps.
