Aswald got a reaction from jigesh in Fuji X-T2 vs. Nikon D750 for Image quality
I shoot with a D600 and D750. I also shoot Canons and Fujifilm. I agree with Jigesh that these produce better images than the X-T1 or T2.

Nikon glass renders beautiful colors and images. Has more "depth" to it.

Also, I find that Nikon lenses suffer less from what modern lenses may suffer from. "Sterile" pictures. In today's quest for impeccable sharpness and edge to edge performance, we seem to be trading artistic render for MTF charts.

    But I digress....

The content and composition of a photograph is always the one to catch my eye and make me look twice. Better yet if it comes with technical excellence.

It's easy to forget this in the hustle and bustle of the modern day transfixation on speed, resolution and new technology.

The x-pro2 graphite version is beautiful beyond words and especially pleasing to the touch. When using it, it feels like a "different" camera. Funny but true....doesn't make sense at all but I'm tempted.

and this is the result of the lens used with both a Waterhouse slide f4 and a two stop closing of the iris aperture in the adapter

I was very pleased with this! ( there is some PP involved)

That 300mm is already sensitive to atmospheric conditions, very far objects can be noticeably distorted by air mass fluctuations.

Mt Rainier, X-E2s + AF Nikkor 300mm f4, distance is approx 90 miles.

I had Nikon AF 300mm f4 at the time purchased X-E1. It was tough to focus using viewfinder, and almost impossible when using screen handheld. So just sold that glass as well as other Nikon stuff.

X-E2 and X-E2s have lower magnification mode in the viewfinder comparing to X-E1, and it makes focusing with all lens noticeably easier for me. I've realized that price went dramatically down for Nikon AF glass, and just purchased AF 300mm again almost two times cheaper then sold it in 2013.

Here's one of the result from this lens on X-E2s. I've purchased lens for bird shooting, but didn't catch nice bird yet : )

Aswald reacted to yukosteel in Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.5 M-mount - disassembly for cleaning
It's a relatively small nice lens that works great on Fuji bodies with simple LM>FX adapter.
Unlike previous version it has shorter focusing distance of 0.7m which is great.

I've purchased mine used and lens had some large dust particles inside on glass surface right in the aperture chamber.
It was tough to discover how to disassemble Voigtlander 50 1.5 Leica M mount version, so this picture may be helpful:

Chhers! A mutliback hybrid camera... to be developed.

Interesting concept, though the pitfalls are many.

For starters the fact that lenses conceived for film don’t perform ( at the very least wideagles don’t) very well on digital cameras ( the concept is explained here, I’ve quoted this a few times before)

    http://fujifilm-blog...ull-frame-dslr/

“...Firstly, the angle of light that film and imaging sensors can receive differ from each other. Film can receive light at the slanted angle of up to 45 degrees without any problem, but in case of the digital camera, the light needs to be as perpendicular to the sensor as possible. Slanted angle light causes mixed colors and therefore the real colors sometimes cannot be reproduced. In order to receive the light perpendicular to the sensor, it is important to make the rear glass element on each lens as big as possible to put the light beams parallel from the outlet of the light to the sensor. Finally, the back-focus distance should be shortened as much as possible to eliminate the degradation in image quality..."
So one would need to design original lenses or use lenses specifically meant for digital purposes ( such as the ones made from Samyang).    What exactly this intends to be is yet to be known. The site says nothing more than they are going to do this and they forecast this being ready in two years to be marketed.    In my mind the easiest approach would be to use the body of a camera that already exists and UP-cycle it with a digital “ back” ( as in the examples given above, through the years many have based their inventions on this concept but no one of these concept cameras have ever reached fruition).

    Dear fellow X-E lovers,

with our hopes high that Fuji is actually working on an X-E3 now, I've been thinking a lot about what I would want the X-E3 to be like and for which features I am actually willing (and able) to pay. Since I've read all sorts of things about what people want ranging from "as cheap as possible" to "make it an X-T2 in rangefinder format" I decided to make a poll to collect all those opinions in a meaningful way. I am hoping that many people here (and from FR) participate so that I can generate some interesting statistics from the data. Patrick has done some polls but without a bit of background information I believe the value of those polls is quite low (sorry, Patrick ;-)

So, here's the link if you want to participate (it shouldn't take long):
https://goo.gl/forms/LixLzXFAzOH6SwYx1 » Poll is now closed!

I am planning to leave it open for about a week and then do an analysis which I will of course publish here in the forum or maybe as a guest post on FR.
If you have any comments feel free to drop them here.

    Thank you!

    Peter,
This is all really just a matter of individual needs and budget. If there were one camera right for everyone, we'd all have it. I recently got an X-T2 to complement my X-Pro2. On paper, the X-T2 is more desireable (4K, articulated LCD, large bright EVF, etc.) but which one do I enjoy using the most? Hands down, the X-Pro2 but that's just me and won't apply to everyone comparing the two. We could guess all day long why Fuji omitted certain feature on the XP2 but that doesn't change anything. I would just try to think about how you shoot and what you shoot and prioritize the features based on that. If, for example, you really want or need 4K video then it's a no-brainer. If OVF/rangefinder experience is important then it's a no-brainer the other way. Both are capable of fabulous images. Good luck with your decision!

Aswald reacted to decca in Irix 15mm 2.4 with a shift adapter
I've been testing the Irix 15mm with my Kipon Nik-FX Shift adapter.

This lens is great. very sharp, very low distortion. I have the firefly version, which is made of plastic, and the build quality is very good. One good feature is that it can focus beyond infinity, this is very useful if your adapter is not exactly of the right thickness. There is a click stop at infinity but you can go a little further.

One problem is that the lens doesn't have an aperture ring and my Kipon adapter doesn't control the aperture. (There is a Fotodiox shift adapter with aperture control). My solution was to insert a little bit of plastic next to the aperture tab in the lens mount. Now it's locked between f5.6 and f8. This is fine for my application but not ideal for general use.

I can shift up to 7mm, at 8mm there is a hard vignette.

I don't think any micro 4/3 is going to be significantly better until there's a step change in sensor design. There will be incremental changes, mainly due to improvements in software, but for now size still matters.

Micro 4/3 sensor and ISO 1250, I would expect this level of noise. I limit iso to 800 with my Lumix if I want to retain fine detail.

With Fuji perhaps iso 3200 can be ok, unless you have the new medium format Fuji.

I don't know why but people get offended about almost everything nowadays.......perhaps the truth hurts sometimes and yeah, it's always easier to make it someone else's problem rather than our own. IMO, the title and the pic is very powerful. Definitely thought provoking...whether it is acceptable or not depends on who and where you are.
