Blacksheep reacted to tractorboyx in Anyone else is hoping for a 16-80 f4?
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about, Panasonic/Leica make a 12-60mm (24-120mm in 35mm) that is f2.8/4.0, and people are getting excited about a f4,0 only lens.
Even up scaling from MFT to APS-C this still looks a sizable lens. Why not make something that is better than the opposition, say a constant f3.5.
Come on Fuji make a statement.

The Fuji is definitely capable - it's all about getting enough distance between the subject and the background.

    Hi Jacek,

at first sight I thougt XC16-50 OIS II is wonderful! It is a light weight and as such in the city e.g. I have been happy about.
I did not do any pixel peeping, but please have a look at this:

There is fringing between the horizon and the woods, the woods at larger distance themselves are somewhat „muddy“ with the XC16-50mm OIS II.
When having a look at the following picture taken with the XF18-55mm at another location you will clearly see what I mean: the picture hase more depth, a better solution and the green colors are natural and differentiated.

You may decide by yourself – I decided in favour of the XF18-55. In my appropriate city bag it is not too heavy for walking around...
    Kind regards Rieke

I shot this photo on my first walk with X-T10 – the XC 16-50mm OIS II as a bundle, the exifs show „P“, as it was preset in the shop, where I have bought it.
At 16 mm you may get close up to even 15 cm (0IS II)! For green landscape however I prefer the XF 18-55 OIS or even XF 16mm f1.4.

    Kind regards Rieke

If you set the focus mode switch to Manual, the AF-L button will do back button focus.  If you leave it in S or C, BBF will not work.

Once upon a time I had the X100. I have the X Pro 2. On the fence about the X100F but its a much improved beast over the original X100 from what I can read. I enjoy the interchangeable lenses so not sure if I would want to pull the trigger on an F.

My own desire would be to see a Medium Format Rangefinder aesthetic. I always wanted to see another Mamiya 7 type offering from somebody. A light weight (relatively speaking) field camera. A high resolution "monster" I could take on hikes (along with a tripod) for landscape photography. And yes, I do desire really large prints. I am excited to see what new technologies and developments are around the bend.

That sounds about what I would expect. Fuji does have an advantage of not having its own full frame camera to compete with. If Fuji can come in with an aggressively priced offering, they do not have to worry at all about cutting into their own sales.

For me, I'm curious what the main focus of the camera (assuming it materializes) will be. Would it primarily be a studio camera? If so, it is not of much interest to me. But if they make a small and light (relatively) rangefinder that handles well in the field, that really gets my interest. The X-T1 is about 40% lighter than a D7200. A Fuji Medium Format Rangefinder could end up similar to a Nikon 810.

I loved my Pentax 67. I used it all the time on field assignments, even doing quite a bit of aerial photography with it... manual exposure, manual focus and all. Those big Velvia slides looked lovely!

I'd love to see a modern take on that by Fuji with some of that exceptional Fuji glass.

I think people have a right to complain, although I think looking for a constructive solution is more useful.  I don't think that complaining then gives one the right to insult others who are posting in the same thread, intending to share a different experience or other suggestion.  serhatalkan, you are not behaving well in either this thread or the battery one, you are just sort of thrashing around with anger.  Is there some type of positive outcome are you looking for? Complaining about one's right to complain seems pretty silly.

Serious issues are quite rare. I'm entertaining Fuji workshops that are pretty intense (they go over 2 days), so there's plenty of time to talk about any serious issues delegates may have with their cameras or lenses or workflow. While there is plenty to learn, there aren't many things that are seriously broken. If there were, my delegates would surely mention them.

Forums are cesspools of discontent. Instead, just go to a real-life meeting with actual Fuji users (I'm hosting one this Sunday here in Schwabach, as folks asked me to see and try the X-T2), and you'll feel a very different and constructive vibe.

In my opinion, Fuji made a mistake by not making the 90mm compatible to the TC.
The 90mm with a 2x TC is close to a 300mm FF 4.0, don't know why they decided against it, this combo would fill an important gap!

I wouldn't worry about the sensor too much.

    1. 24MP seems to be a given. The Magnum leak supports this. (The X-Pro2 with 24MP Sensor seems to be already tested)

    2. Nikon likes to source it's sensors from different manufacturers. They used Renesas and Toshiba recently. Since both (fabs) are now run by Sony it would make sense for Nikon to look elsewhere (Samsung).

    3. I was never a huge fan of the A6000 sensor. But to be honest: it's probably really good. Take a look what other companies have done with Sony Sensors (Pentax K5II, all the Fujis, most Nikons) and compare them to the "original Sonys". I guess the A6000 sensor could deliver outstanding results.

    4. Even if it was a basic A6000 sensor, this would not mean it is exactly the same. Not even manufacturing wise. For example the X-Trans II is a sensor not used by anyone else. This sensor does not exist anywhere else with phase detection pixels (or the X-Trans cfa). So it could be, that we get a slightly improved A6000

    5. There is probably coming some new Sony sensor soon, but let's be realistic - how much improvement will it really bring? Looking at the past and the latest improvments, it's probably way below 1/3EV improvement in noise.

But you can already do back button focussing - at least I do all the time. Move the camera to manual focus (via the front three position lever and then use the AF-L button to focus, take you finger off, recompose and shoot. For me this works exactly the same as back button focus on a Nikon.

I'm pretty sure it's just a formula. All they have to do is plug in the new numbers if the focal length or aperture changes. I don't think it would be that much of a nightmare. It seems like an interesting idea to me and a feature that I would probably use if it were there.

When you look at the distance scale in the viewfinder you can see that the camera knows exactly what DOF it has for each aperture and focal length. I think ti would be easy to pick a hyper-focal distance. The necessary  data is already there.
