  1. Normal. It chatters a little when hunting for focus. Not as much as the 35mm f/1.4, but it's there.
  2. I'm interested in the answer as well. We're planning to through-hike the PCT in 2017, too. And I'm debating whether to bring the X-T2 with me. I don't own the 18-55, but was thinking of getting a 16-55. I'm not sure how either fare on video use.
  3. Okay that makes total sense! Lol. Mine has had some water on it from light rain, but I never had it in a thundershower downpour. The photo is awesome! Glad to know you got some of the loss covered. Thanks for the explanation.
  4. I traded in my 35mm 1.4 because it started acting funny. It would suddenly shut down and freeze, and an error message would pop up telling me to turn the camera off and back on. Half a dozen times of this happening and I decided to turn it in and get the 23mm 1.4 instead. Which I love. I have the 16mm and it's pretty much my favourite lens. No distortion and has great close focus. When I want wider I have the 12mm Rokinon. I find there are times, however that I want something between the 23mm and the 56mm. I find myself missing the FoV of that 35mm. I keep debating whether to get the f2 or to get another f1.4. I'm leaning toward picking up a used f1.4, convinced the copy I had was just a bad apple. I just think the older 1.4 is a bit higher quality, and I don't mind the size and weight compared to the f2. I'm going to wait until my X-T2 arrives however so I can try them both on the new camera. I want to see how the older 1.4 35mm performs on the new body. Then I'll decide. But I don't really need the 35mm. It's just GAS. First world problems...
  5. Yeah I get that. I was wondering what rain scenario meant the X-T1 was lost. My X-T1 has had lots of rain and not been affected.
  6. Your weatherproof X-T1 was destroyed by rain?
  7. Exactly my thought process on this. I had no reason to wait until I saw IQ samples from the XT-2 given the XPro-2 has the identical sensor and processor. I was in Henry's in Toronto at 10am on July 7. I am the first person on the pre-order list. With a 12-month "half-back" trade-in allowance for my X-T1, I feel I'm getting a decent deal. I get 50% trade-in value for the MSRP of the XT-1 (about $750). I wouldn't be able to sell it for more than $500 I don't think.
  8. I have owned the MeFoto Backpacker for a few months now and it's really compact - 12.7" and just over 2 lbs. I considered the RRS TQC-14, but it's $1000+ CAD, and it's still quite bulky at 17" folded up. I don't like the ballhead on the MeFoto, though. So I just ordered a RRS BH-30 for it. I think this will be a fairly stable, compact combo.

  10. Hi there. Just got my Fuji X-T1 about 4 months ago and I've been learning to use it. I have traveled extensively with my wife on a couple of extended sabbaticals and we're planning to leave again in a year for several years. We always took a point and shoot with us, but have decided to get more serious about our photography after I started an Instagram feed that has become fairly popular (@persco_). We did not want to carry around a full DSLR and lenses with us, so I found my way to the X-T1 and I LOVE this camera. I'm having a blast learning to shoot with a real camera. Looking forward to learning lots more here. Thanks for having me...
