The Pro1 is a classic camera for eternity. I just bought a second. The prices are irresistible .

It's now an X-T10 with rangefinder form factor.

So if you did the upgrade, don't buy my X-E2 ebook, anymore. Instead, get my X-T10 book (print or ebook), as it fits for 95% of the "new old" camera.

Anyway - I just answered to the thread title with 'yes'.

And I learned the ignore-function of the forum software. Beautiful feature.

I'm glad to live in Germany.
Free loaners for everybody during the repair time (one only has to ask).
And free one-time sensor cleaning by Fujifilm with every system camera purchase.
    And 2 years warranty.

The Pro2 fullfills all my dreams. Exept the internal stabiliser. Anyway. I hope the Pro2 is available soon.
I have not yet bought the 35mm F2 and hope for a bundle.

One can speculate that a revamped version is like the "II" versions of the XC zooms which were mostly created because some parts of the "I" series weren't available anymore (which would create a service problem in the future). Same same, but different. Just like no reasonable user of the "I" series XC zooms would "upgrade" to the "II" series outside of a cheap "kit deal", nobody expects existing X-E2 users to upgrade to what the rumor mill has been describing as the "X-E2S".

It may be a different story for new customers, but I reckon that at least the smart shoppers would rather try to get a discounted X-E2 with current v4 firmware than a more expensive "X-E2S". Then again, not every customer is smart, and some always want the latest version, even if it costs more. It could well be that the rumored "X-E2S" is simply a means to keep the X-E line readily available for at least another year. Not many people are buying this form factor (as opposed to the much larger X-T1 and X-T10 crowd), so it's a niche within a niche, but I faintly remember Fuji making a promise to keep the X-E line alive for those who are into it, so maybe this is just their way of keeping this promise w/o investing much money and resources.

I joined this Forum in May, but have only started posting here this week.

I've been shooting with Leicas since the mid-1970s, starting with an M3 then M6, M7, M8, M9 and Monochrom, all of which I still have.  Along the way over 40 years I've accumulated an arsenal of Leica M & R lenses. I’ve also owned and used Hasselblad 500 series cameras with Zeiss lenses and a CFV-50 digital back, all recently sold. As my eyesight has lately started to deteriorate, focusing with the range finder and the Hassleblads has become trickier.

So I went out and bought a Sony A7r. Using manual focus and the focus magnification function has worked well both with my M lenses, and the R lenses for wildlife. However, somehow the “look & feel” of the Sony's images lacked “character" and seemed too “clinical” for my liking, this is purely my subjective opinion.

I ended up on this Forum after I purchased a Fuji X100T. I loved the images, but ergonomically I couldn’t come to terms with the camera’s size, my hands are too big for it.

As the X-Pro1 became heavily discounted a few weeks ago, and based on what I saw with the X100T images I thought I’ll give it a try, and purchased a new X-Pro1 and 18mm f2 lens for all of €570-.

From the outset I really liked this camera, it's handling and the images it delivers. Not since my Leicas have I seen images with such wonderful image quality and “character”.  As for high ISO shooting and straight out the camera JPEGs the Leicas can't match the Fuji
(I always shoot RAW + JPEG). Overall the Fuji images are right up there IMO.

    I’ve since added a Fuji 23mm f1.4 and 35mm f2.
Financed the X-Pro1 and the 3 lenses by offloading my Leica 35mm Summilux f1.4. I’m also using my remaining Leica M lenses on the X-Pro1 with a Fotodiox LM-FX adaptor and the focus magnification function. Overall I’m very pleased!

In my view, ergonomically in general, Fuji have got it right over the digital Leicas; the ability to quickly change exposure compensation as well as ISO without having to take your eye off the viewfinder is a very big plus for me. The only issue is that I keep pressing the Q button by mistake...

I am eagerly anticipating the X-Pro2...

Guess I'll take the risk and stay with 4.20. Don't use AF-C very often. And if removing the battery solves the freeze it's fine.

There is the element of "at what cost" to incorporate video in a camera.
Does it make the camera MORE expensive by adding video capability ?
Does it compromise or weaken the capabilities of the other featuresd of the camera in order to suppport video ?

Nothing is for free. The more things a "box" does, the more things can break.

Everything is going the right way. I'm interested in four points on the XPro2: IQ, IQ, IQ and AF. As long as Fuji is focused on that, I'm happy. I expect industrie leading IQ and super fast AF in January.

I hope that Fuji will keep the Pro2 as puristic as the Pro1. The T2 will follow soon with all the bells and whistles. But with the Pro2, I don't want a tilt screen. No videos. No wifi. Not even live view. Just a perfect photo camera that can became a natural part of me. The new Leica M 262 comes close to that. My dream for January is a Pro2 WR with 24mp and the hybrid VF of the 100T. For now all rumors are promising...

    Do I hate technology, if I don't need a video mode ?

AF will still be based on phase detection. And the new 24mp sensor will give a lot of hardware support. I expect the world leading AF system in February. Nothing to worry about.

Do I hate technology, if I like the hybrid VF of my X100T more than the tilt live-view screen of a X-M1? And even the EVF of my T1 is terrible noisy in low light conditions. No - state of the art in technology is the hybrid view finder. And if I use a view finder, there is no need for a fragile tilt screen. So I don't want one. And I guess I'll get a hybrid VF and a fixed screen.

What I want is super sharp 24mp sensor with brilliant IQ and a super fast AF. And I guess I'll get one.

What I want is a weather resistant bullet proof body. And I guess I'll get one.

What I want is a manual ISO dial. And I guess I'll get one.

My dream would be a internal 5-axis sensor-shifting image stabilization system with pixel-shift resolution. There's still hope to get one - but not a lot.

Finally I would wish to be able to switch off the JPG engine and all the settings in the menu. That would reduce the number of menu entries by 50%. No hope to get that option.

Overall I am very confident to get a new high technology camera in a few weeks.

Take a breath why don't you.  Your first post and this is it?  Nice...

Folks are taking Tom way too literally in my opinion... He's saying keep it the pure shooters camera it is now.  Don't bog it down with a bunch of crap the majority in this market don't use.  Tom didn't say strip the camera of any features it already has, just improve what it does have.  Beef up the pixels, and the processor it will still be a coveted camera.  Add in a few features like dual card slots and hybrid VF and you have a very desirable upgrade that just takes something that was great to begin with, and makes it even greater.

The Pro1 is still fantastic . And it will remain so for a long time . I bought a second , because prices are so silly . I have both other two cameras too - but the Pro1 is my favorite when I want to have fun. I take the T1, when object are moving around. The 100T , when discretion is required . And the Pro1 with XF56, if I want to relax.
