Didn't have this issue. I used the eye-sensor, and no problems, also using the left eye.

Sadly, three of the four virtual touch Fn functions aren't available to me when I'm looking through the EV, only the virtual right Fn button works for me with my thumb.

Yes, it's clearly a model targeting female users by design.

    It's a mixed bag.

E3 is a T20 with different design, but Fuji is currently withholding the firmware to make the T20 on par with the E3: no new AF system, no color histogram planned for the November update. That's unfortunate.

The lack of physical controls - that's a very interesting observation. One of the features that I think most Fuji users like is the old fashioned use of dials and knobs (as well as the picture qualities, the lenses, etc, etc). I think you've hit the nail on the head. Also, comments like "a dumbed down X-T20" on the rumour site seem to reflect this observation. I don't like the way the X-E line is going so I won't be buying an X-E3 without a damascene conversion!

I like the idea that I can operate the camera without having to think too much about what I'm doing. I'd prefer all Fuji cameras to have very similar button layouts so one can go seamlessly from one to another and not struggle to operate the camera because of differing button lay out. The X-E3 is just too far removed from the X-E2s to appeal as far as buttons/controls go.

Also, in line with similar cameras from other manufacturers, I had hoped for IBIS and an articulated screen.

Fuji changed target group with this funny X-E3 that does not appreciate full camera control, fast and direct access to features but loves touched LCD for navigation and looking at it more then on what happens on the scene. X-E3 killed X-E line for me... look at this tiny EVF with x0.62 magn. with 'point-and-shot' style eyepiece in 2018 APS-C world! It's a joke and kiss-off many X-E users who asked for larger EVF.

Same here; a mini X-Pro2 (minus the OVF) would be great. I could even accept the omission of weather sealing to keep the costs (and maybe size) down.
I personally don't need a tilting screen, but I would not be opposed to it (though it makes the camera bulkier). I think my X100T photo in one of the previous posts provides a strong argument against a touch screen. Which is also not needed with a proper joystick and D-pad.

If the X-E3 is released configured as rumored it is not going to be the X-E2 update I had imagined. The simplest package I would have gladly paid for would have an X-Trans III sensor and CPU, weather sealing, the joy-stick, and a combo-shutter/ISO dial. The touch screen is not on my wish list.

I can only hope that what is revealed on Thursday is different from the bad joke in this rumored X-E3. If the worst comes about, I will be happy to stay with my X-E2, and X-T2, and consider adding an X-Pro2 (or its successor) as my 24MB RF.

Not sure if this makes sense, since I have an Android phone ... but I find that the Fujifilm app connects quicker (and more reliably) to my phone when I disable mobile data. Don't ask why, but it seems to work (I read the tip on a forum as well).

Edit: I read that the X-E3 is supposed to have Bluetooth support ... that is a helpful development, in my opinion!

Another advantage of using aftermarket caps is that you can store the original Fujifilm caps. Always handy when you decide to sell a lens later.

Yes, it has been observed by many before ( there are a couple of threads already open on this forum on this matter) that Fuji has a strange strategy when it comes to lens hoods AND filter sizes.

Few lenses have interchangeable filter size not to mention having odd sizes such as 39mm for the 60mm.

After trying to put up with the lens hoods I did some work myself.

The 35mm 1.4, as you say, is really awkward but it is very easy to find a substitute and, for just a few €, I bought it in China somewhere, possibly  Aliexpress, this comes with a cap too

I did the same with the 18-55 ( I don’t like petal hoods) and bought a 58mm vented hood.

The 60mm require a more complex approach, so it needs a 39mm filter used as spacer (you can take the filter out if you so wish) then there is a step up ring 39-52 and then there is a 52mm cylindrical hood.

    A lens cap to match.

But yes, I guess it is now too late but someone should really look at the practicality of these things.

A touch screen only makes sense for me on a camera you use without a viewfinder.

Oh right, that's why when tablets became widespread it would be the end of the desktop as we know it. Not only it is not, manufacturers have backpedaled and added a keyboard to their devices (like the microsoft surface) when people started to realize you cannot work efficiently that way (writing long posts and emails on touchscreen, how convenient).

A touchscreen has its use when portability is a must and time/working "blind" is not an issue. It is not a "must-have" on a camera. You're obviously more a gearhead than a photographer, I understand there is a market for that and Fuji is maybe right to go in that direction, but maybe not.

Who says? I suspect that a large part of Fujifilm's target group thinks otherwise. Besides, the "screen only" design makes the camera bland and ugly.

Well ... still the same opinion. I am not impressed by the styling. The backside looks more like a weird Apple device than a camera.
