  1. Maybe, but they were very useful to me.
  2. I have tried to like the 18-55, but I failed. Nothing wrong with the optics, but it was too large for me on a X-E1, and too impractical on a X-Pro1. But it might be a great combination with the X-T1! And like I said, nothing wrong with the optical quality. One of my favourite XF lenses is the 27mm. "Normal" FOV, small and light, and very sharp. 3. I'm just happy that trees don't run that fast. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  4. The EV button does not work in manual mode indeed. Unless it could automatically change the ISO value, which the Fuji cameras don't do in manual mode, there is nothing for it to adjust (at least true for the X-Pro1 and X-E1). I usually set the ISO to a fixed value when working in manual mode. That way you have full control. If your scene really exceeds the dynamic range of the sensor, you can create multiple exposures, and combine them in post processing. Otherwise, set dynamic range to 100%, expose so that the highlights are not blown, and pull up the shadows in your RAW converter. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  5. Metz already have it on their website. Search for Fujifilm X-Pro1 and they point you to the 44 AF-2. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  6. Fujifilm might have too many cameras covering broadly the same segment? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  7. My ideal choice for a starter lens kit would be the 18mm and 35mm, covering moderate wide angle and the normal perspective. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  8. I think everyone is waiting on 1) what's in the firmware update, and 2) what discounts there will come on the X-E2. Until that is clear, they won't sell many of them. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  9. In the meantime I got a response from Fujifilm Germany ... the only difference between the two lenses is the improvement in the image stabilisation. The OIS II is rated for 3.5 stops. Apart from that, the lenses are identical.
  10. I'd never buy a lens from a seller who is not within driving distance.
  11. Given how large the RAW files and JPEGs (Fine) from a 16MP camera already are, I'll probably pass on anything larger. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  12. I paid €170 for the 50-230. I'd say that is acceptable for a "vacation tele zoom". I use short primes most of the time anyway. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  13. X-T1, X-T2, X-Twhatever, I don't care ... as long as Fuji gives us good glass.
  14. Sounds like overkill ... the MCEX-16 extension tube works nicely though (here at 50mm).
  15. A bit more reach would be nice but here are some first shots (50% crops):
  16. I would not want to miss the exposure compensation dial there! I'd rather put the ISO selection on a Fn button. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  17. Because not much is happening? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  18. Held the lens in my hands, tested it on my X-E1, and indeed the AF is fast enough for me (indoors), and the lens does not feel "cheap". I don't like the plastic lens mount, and the rear lens cap is a joke (how much more would a real cap cost?), but the lens does what it should do, and you can't argue the price (€170 with 2 years warranty). So I'm the owner of a XC 50-230 lens now. Purpose is to use it as a "zoo zoom", and to see how well it works with the MCEX-16 extension ring. Btw, mine is the "OIS II" version, so it should have the improved OIS?
  19. Here are some examples from the 35/1.4 and the MCEX-16 extension tube, connected to my X-E1. All pictures were handheld ... I should make it a habit to take a monopod or tripod with me! (as you can see, the pictures are cropped a bit)
  20. Foka sells the lens alone (without a camera) for €170 at the moment Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll make the jump for that price ... if it doesn't feel right, I can always return it (and they give 24 months warranty).
  21. This lens is for sale in various camera outlets (like the Foka outlet store) right now. There are two things I'm worried about: - how is the mechanical construction quality, given that even the mount is plastic? - how is the AF at the long end on a X-E1, given the small aperture (f/6.7)? Thanks! Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  22. I had a Canon 50/1.4 on my 5D. I love the X-Pro1 & 35/1.4 combination much more. My Canon lens was really soft wide open, and suffered more from CA. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  23. A 24mm would be good then ... but the good 24mm lenses are not cheap! Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  24. True, the 27mm gives a 40mm FOV. But AFAIK the focal reducers are 1.3x as well? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
