    mpw1950 got a reaction from dv. in Samyang/Rokinon 300mm f6.3 mirror lens
    Some great pictures but ...

I have occasionally toyed with getting this lens for the fun of it. But having actualy seen the mirror lens bokeh again I decided I will just stick with my Fuji 100-400mm.  I rememember the doughnuts when they were fashionable (1970s) but had forgotten how intrusive they are and how quickly enthusiasm would disappear. Thanks, you have saved me an expensive experiment!

mpw1950 got a reaction from Mike G in XT-2 Preorders
This morning I had a phone call from my dealer, LCE Nottingham, to tell me that I can pick up my X-T2 at 9am when they open tomorrow (Thursday 8 September). I knew I was second on their list of preorders.

mpw1950 reacted to mpw1950 in So, what about an X-T2?
All I want is the new X-Pro2 sensor and other improvements in X-T body plus any further gains that come with it being six months later. Only major external change I wouild like is a grip with the shutter release that goes a bit further forward so I can use a hand strap. I will need an additional strap lug on the bottom right so that I do not need to use a battery grip. The joystick might be useful but I get on fine with the the 4-way buttons and ISO dial on the X-T1.

I am about to sell my professional Canon Kit so that I can buy the 100-400mm, some other bits and two X-T2s when they come out. I am going "All-In" on the Fuji X system: see my reasoning here.

Yes, I'd buy that - like the X-T1 but with the new sensor and joystick

An integrated battery grip would turn the x-t1 into something else. The point of the camera is that it's like an old film SLR - small, light, directly controllable via physical dials and traditional in styling. Building a bulky grip on one side would AKS it bigger, heavier and less 'pure' in its design philosophy. More like any other camera brand, in fact.

After having returned from a 10-day stock shooting trip and using the X-T1 plus a bevy of lenses I can honestly say I don't need any further upgrades.  I'm perfectly content with what I have.  Now, if Fuji would hurry up and put out a 24 megapixel, X-T1 equivalent I would love that.

I'm very, very pleased with my equipment.

mpw1950 reacted to Trenton Talbot in Locking everything
When X-T1 was first released, there's been a lot of whining about its locking ISO dial. My problem with this dial is totally opposite: I would like that damn button to lock not just ISO, but a drive mode dial as well. It gets knocked off way too often.

As a matter of fact, I won't mind if the X-T1 successor had a similar locking mechanism on a shutter speed/metering dial as well. The only dial on a top panel that should always remain unlocked is a compensation dial.

I would advise against using CA anywhere near the camera ports. However, a strip of glass or carbon cloth soaked in a good epoxy might be just what doctor ordered. Just cover the ports with masking tape and lightly grease the outer edges on camera side (don't forget to remove the grease later, before peeling the masking tape).
