  1. Thanks for the replies. The thing is I was never a portrait photographer Hahaha. I usually see the landscape shots and take time to compose for a good picture. However, now that I travel with family more often I'm thinking of learning more about portraiture. The lens that I'm looking for would be one that I can shoot portraits while traveling. If I am to do strict portraiture in a controlled environment I'd most likely use my nikon system with my 85mm lens or 50mm 1.2f ais. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  2. how big a difference between the APD and the basic one? does anyone has links on a side by side
  3. how about i go with 23mm f1.4 instead?
  4. In terms of general usability, like for portraits during travel with family, which is the better lens - 35 or 56mm
  5. Actually I am looking between 23, 35 or 56. The 90mm has nice nice bokeh based on reviews but would be difficult for me to use.
  6. Guys, I currently have the Fuji 10-24mm, 18-55mm, 27mm and 50-230mm. I know that I am covered almost throughout the range. Recently I am caught by GAS and am looking at a prime for portraits. Can you recommend what to get? My thoughts are 1) I should have gotten the 23mm instead of the 27mm but its pancake size does make it useful for a smallish system. Then again I should have gotten the 18mm pancake since i feel that the 27mm not wide enough for my everyday use. 2) Should i get 35mm, although the 1.4f is said to be slow on focusing and the f2… ummm does the 1.4f give better bokeh? 3) Should i get the 56mm, although that will be 85mm which is mostly just a shoulder and up portrait lens. Just confused hahaha
  7. I take two cameras. Main lens mounted on XT1 and the second "less used" lens on the XE2 No risk of dust entering sensor. This is the main reason i switched from DSLR to Fuji. Less weight so I can bring 2 bodies.
  8. Should be the copy of the lens. Could be I was lucky that i found a really good copy, or by chance the 50-230mm kit lens was a bad copy. During my test, the older version was a little bit sharper, not by much so it really could just be the same for most samples.
  9. Sorry for the hot topic. It's just that I've seen some Leica units and been tempted to consider. I know that the fuji body is technologically more advance than Leica. Which brings us to the lenses. Leica lenses are also bloody expensive hahaha Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  10. Just out of curiosity, has anybody compared the Fuji primes with Leica? I understand Leica manufactures arguably the best camera lenses in the world. How far are Fuji lenses?
  11. I also saw the OIS II packaged as a kit lens. Tested it with the old version and could not feel much difference. Yes, the only difference in marking is on the face where there is an OIS II marked. Compared both copies and the older one was tad sharper so I'm happy with my buy.
  12. If you want to go FF with the Nikon and the destination is europe, then you need a wide. The 16-35mm is superb and not as heavy. However, like at Fuji users, weight is one of the main considerations for buying Fuji. I would go with the 10-24mm for landscape. 35mm would be good for portraits but perhaps an 18-55mm would be more versatile. My last EU trip i brought 10-24mm, 18-55mm and a 27mm. Did not get to use the 27mm much because the 18-55mm was so good hahaha. I normally have a two body set-up to avoid changing lens.
  13. Just got the 50-230mm OIS when it was on sale the other day for $240. Actually, I didn't notice that I got the older version until I already paid for the unit. I tested it at the store vs the 55-200 and surprisingly the 50-230 was sharper. I tried 2 copies of the 55-200 just to be sure. Maybe I just got lucky and found a very good copy. In terms of physical lens quality, the 55-200 wins HAND DOWN. That lens is a beauty although its much heavier. So far I am happy with the 50-230 and will try some soccer shots tomorrow
  14. My very first post here at Fuji X Forum. Gibraltar Rock using X-E2 and 10-24mm lens
