plaidshirts reacted to Mb.kinsman in X100F: Q-menu button annoyance
Just got an X-100F and find it a bit frustrating due to lack of thumb grip and the location of the Q button, which is exactly where my thumb goes when I grab the camera. I decided to try to find a solution other than the Thumb Grip from Lensmate and found a very cheap solution that works quite well for me. I added a 13mm (1/2") Self Adhesive Vinyl Bumper commonly used on the back of picture frames. Placed it to the left of the Q button and now have a place to grip that is not in the way of any controls and gives me a place to hold the camera securely. It's a clear round bumper - see photo attached.

They make those silicone bumpers in black as well...

plaidshirts reacted to Adam Woodhouse in Vivitar Auto Wide-Angle 20mm f3.8 Konica AR Mount
Since it has an effective focal length of 30mm, it would be a great casual walk around (street for example) lens.
I really enjoy my 1973 Canon 24mm F2.8 SCC since it gives that common 35mm field of view.

Cool lens I picked up. It's pretty big and heavy, but balances well on my X-T1.
It focuses to less than 6" allowing it to be both wide angle and macro.

Ona Street Prince would get my nomination. It's attractive, doesn't have a visible name tag and looks like a messenger bag. I have a Berlin, but since you don't want leather, the Ona in canvass would be perfect for your needs.

mvlow, I know what you mean about Velcro and I'm happy to report that hood hats don't have any and are dust RESISTANT.
Anything that gets on it can be easily wiped off.

I have an XT-1.
Set it to manual mode and press the AFL button to focus.
This has been my preferred method to shoot with all my Fuji's and I'm pretty sure they all work the same way.
My X100T has a combined AEL/AFL button but functions the same way in the manual mode, as did my XPro-1 (I think) when I had it.
Hope this helps.

plaidshirts got a reaction from CRAusmus in Samyang/Rokinon 85mm ƒ1.4
Just wanted to chime in.
Rokinon 85/1.4 is an excellent lens for the price.
It's sharp with good colors and a pleasant bokeh, but it's HUGE.
For that reason, I find I use much smaller and cheaper vintage lenses like a Takumar 105/2.8 or Olympus OM 135/3.5 when I'm outside even though the Rokinon is faster and it's IQ a whole lot better.
If I'm shooting inside without much moving about, it's the Rokinon every time.

Ha! You got me.
I guess if you were a spy, you would be be using the VF more than I!
For most of us with ordinary lives however, you can see how having the menu on the LCD makes sense.
Thanks for letting me vent.

My suggestion is rather simple - because I have made my kit selection simple.
My kit now consists of an X-100T with cable release and rather convenient Manfrotto Tripod and the option of a Lee Seven 5 Big Stopper filter.
That's it. No more pockets of lenses, need to carry a camera bag or lug a rucksack round with me, minding the products in shops, cafe's or exhibits in museums.
TheX-100T sits in my pocket rather easily and with the RAW ISO option of 6400 pretty much eliminates the need to even take the tripod. But then I have a long history of hand holding low light shots without a tripod via 3200ASA film pushed to 12800 or with ISO of 25600 on the Canon 5D2.
As for the 23mm lens? Covers nearly all bases and forces me to work with what I have, instead of missing the view because I'm constantly veiwing everything as a possible shot and trying to work out the body and lens combination before I move on to the next paving slab or cobble stone.
It's a trip for you and the wife - are you under contract to produce a travel guide or something similar? No? Then enjoy the trip and keep it simple...
My wife is loving the new 'photographic one camera in pocket me'. And happy to go travelling with me again...

Those are very powerful pictures.
You can really feel the tension and see the drama.
I don't think I'd have the courage to be there running around with a camera in my hands though....
Did you have any close calls? Police mistaking your gear for a weapon?
