Never understood the notion of or people's preoccupation with lenses "balancing" on a camera body.

As soon as you put a lens on a camera, it becomes front-heavy. As such, the combination of the two has no inherent balance.

The only way to balance a camera is to hold it properly, i.e. support it at the fulcrum point by cradling the lens in your left hand.

In my case, having a bigger battery that lasts twice as long isn't that important. I don't mind to take a second battery with me.

New poster, just got rid of all my photographic equipment and picked up an X100S in the hope of rekindling my interest in the hobby and bringing back a bit of immediacy to my work, ruined over years of SLR and slow mirrorless options. Really liking the camera for street work so far.

Ten recent favourites, all taken in Newcastle upon Tyne in the last two weeks. I hope my usual hotlinking works and I'm not breaking any forum rules..

XF23mm f2, f11, zone focussing. I like this method - you don't have to worry about whether you'll get the focus right. Essentially, if it's 3 feet away or further, it's in focus

True, but I still think video deserves its own subforum. It's very important for those who use it, and pretty irrelevant for those who are only interested in photo capabilities. And video is different enough from still photography to justify a separate section, in my opinion.

    Two comments:
    1. Your personal priority of video over still photo is hardly shared, in my opinion, by the majority of Fuji users.
    2. Comparison of arbitrarily chosen video clips made by people of varying skills under different lighting conditions with differing lenses, shooting different subjects proves nothing. I mean, absolutely nothing.

    Peter,
This is all really just a matter of individual needs and budget. If there were one camera right for everyone, we'd all have it. I recently got an X-T2 to complement my X-Pro2. On paper, the X-T2 is more desireable (4K, articulated LCD, large bright EVF, etc.) but which one do I enjoy using the most? Hands down, the X-Pro2 but that's just me and won't apply to everyone comparing the two. We could guess all day long why Fuji omitted certain feature on the XP2 but that doesn't change anything. I would just try to think about how you shoot and what you shoot and prioritize the features based on that. If, for example, you really want or need 4K video then it's a no-brainer. If OVF/rangefinder experience is important then it's a no-brainer the other way. Both are capable of fabulous images. Good luck with your decision!

I'm not a professional photographer and not a carpenter, but for me a hammer is a tool, and the camera is not, because nailing is a necessity and photography is a favorite hobby.

c0ldc0ne reacted to ThorstenMUC in Fuji X-T2 weather-sealing issues?
Sad to hear that - it sounds strange to me, that the X-T2 is not holding through a rain-shower... I know, it is not supposed to be submerged in water - but what weather the sealing is build for, if not rain? I used my X-T1 in hours of slight rain... even my "officially not sealed" Yongnuo 560 worked without problems... rain drops are exactly, what the sealing should prevent from entering the body.
An accidental splash of water imho is no "weather", but would be splash-proof (what e.g. my mobile is).

My personal theory? It's Fuji's marketing department's way of ensuring that something you need/want is missing from each model, so that you end up buying both.
