Just received my GFX 50R + 63 and 45. I have an X Pro 1 and 2 with 18, 35 1.4, and 60 2.4, and X100F. Over the years I plowed through the 1.4/1.2 lenses and came back to the original three I got with my X Pro 1. I rarely shoot portraits but I find the 60 to be perfect for them if I do need to. I can't see myself buying anything else unless Fuji releases an X Pro 3 or an new X100. I have upgraded every time on the X100 and never been disappointed.

Yeah, I'm not real happy right now. I am sitting here debating calling B&H for a return/refund or Fuji Repair. I really like the camera but.... I am not going to take another body from B&H. Look I can understand if I have a camera for awhile and it breaks, but some of these bugs (none of the three I have had will connect to the Instax Printer) should not be a problem out of the box. I sort of understood some of the XT1's with the light leaks (I had one). Things can happen in the manufacturing process. But basic level software in the camera that has been on multiple bodies should work out of the box on the most expensive camera body. That is not professional- period. To Fuji Repair's credit they fixed my X100T two months out of warranty for free. Though I have to wonder if it's because I've had to send in three bodies for repairs and when they agreed to do it they were aware that I had received at that time two defective X Pro2's. I'm sure that had something to do with the decision. Plus the battery chargers that I got with both my X100 and X100T were DOA. There just seems to be something wrong. I love the products but the execution is extremely poor. The lenses are very good, but they have a long history in camera lens manufacturing. I have been doing photography for a long time and I can say basically all the modern digital lenses are good now so that's sort of faint praise. Most of the lens comparisons you see now are at a level that has nothing do with viewing prints at a gallery distance. I guess if you want to zoom in on some leaves at 100% on your computer monitor OK. But if you are printing at say 12 x 18 you really aren't going to be able to tell the difference between a Fuji, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, ect. Anyway, enough of that, except to say I wish Nikon made a digital rangefinder style camera......

Well body #3 gave me the Turn Off/Turn On error after 6 shots. I am going to call Steve at Fuji Repair tomorrow to see what he recommends. If it goes back to B&H this time I'm not asking for a replacement. Maybe I will just wait and let them get them get the bugs worked out for 6-12 months. I like it better than the Df, but the Df works.

What I was told by Fuji Repair when I called about this was it was probably a lens mount problem. I trust the person who told me this because he has repaired two cameras for me. I was told on both bodies I purchased that it would be easier just to send it back to the merchant for a replacement. I just got #3 out of the box so I guess I will find out soon. I rarely take more than 20-30 photos on any outing so it may be a few days before it shows up. On the first one I think I had it for about 3 days before I got the error message. On the second one it was within the first 20 frames. I did a portrait job recently and took approximately 40-50 shots. I'm just mystified how people shoot 2000 frames and have time to look at them all. If I have a problem with this one it is going in for a lens mount replacement. And I will really be upset....

That and I shot a rangefinder for years on film. However, I kind of draw the line at $5,000+ for a digital body. I love my M6 but I would never spend $5000 on a digital body. I really like the X Pro, but I'm on body number 3 for the X Pro 2 so I am really disappointed + my X 100T needed a viewfinder repair after 14 months. I really love what Fuji is doing but I've had bad luck with the camera bodies. I kind of got the Df on a lark because I sold off a bunch of film bodies and lenses I hadn't used in years. It's a nice camera. I would prefer the X Pro2....if it worked. I got my third copy yesterday so I am going to maybe try it out tonight. I was so excited because I loved the X Pro 1 so much. The Turn Off/Turn On problem sort dimmed my enthusiasm. Again, I'm old so I remember film bodies. They just worked. I have several that are three decades old that have never been serviced. Sadly, digital technology just doesn't work that way. I have noticed younger people are more patient with the problems than I am. If I pay $1700 for something I expect it to work. If I had paid say $300 well that would be a different story. I'm just a grouchy old guy I guess. :-) I do wish they would make a smaller 23mm F2 for it. The current 23 really eats into the OVF. I am basically a 28-35-50 photographer.

I use the OVF almost exclusively. But I'm old so I don't really like EVF. One of the reasons I like the X Pro and X100 is the OVF. I am also using a Nikon Df. I started with film in the 1970's so I'm too old to change. Unfortunately the 16mm and 23mm lenses really aren't good for the OVF. The 35 and 18 are fine. I have a 56 but rarely use it. I think I've used it 5 times on some portrait work I got wrangled into doing. I am now on my third X Pro2 because of the Turn Off/Turn On problem. I haven't tried out the third one yet. I got it yesterday so maybe I will try it out today or tomorrow. I am very happy with the Df so this will be my last Fuji camera. I have had too many repair problems with them. I bought an XT1 to see if I could adjust to an EVF. I really did not like that camera at all. Honestly, if I had more time to spend in the darkroom I would just use the M6 and get rid of the digital cameras. It's funny how set in your ways you get when you are older.

I am on my third body now. The person who said Fuji Repair USA hasn't heard of this was misled I called them twice about it. They are really nice there (I've had a lot of experience with them). Both times they told me to return the camera to B&H for a new one. I also ended up buying a Nikon Df which I have been using. I would have just sent the X Pro2 back for a refund but I have all the prime lenses except the 90. When I priced selling them I was going to lose a lot of money. This will be the last Fuji camera I buy though. Once I feel like I have some value from the lenses I will sell everything off. I had problems with my X100, XT1, X100T and now I'm three bodies in on the X Pro2. I just got the third copy yesterday so I haven't tried it out yet. Actually I'm not even excited about the camera anymore. I got my original one the first week in March so, I'm now a month into this. It sort of killed the excitement I had about the camera. I am very happy with the Df. It's a breeze to manual focus with, I have a lot of Nikon AIS lenses so it was sort of a no brainer. I guess eventually I will try out the X Pro2. You know the thrill is gone when you just leave it in the box. I got it last night and it's still taped up in the box. I just put it on the shelf and took my dogs for a walk when I got home. I guess I will get it out later today to see if this one works. If not I think instead of returning it, I will ship to Fuji Repair. I'm not in a hurry to use it now.

I would send it back. I had two bodies in a row that did the Turn On/Turn Off. I am returning the second one tomorrow. I ended up going with a Df because all the bugs are worked out with it. It's a really great camera, sadly with no split prism. I didn't have overheating with either body, but neither one would connect to the Instax Printer. When I called B&H today they weren't surprised. They have had quite a few returns on the X Pro2. Adorama has also.

I also couldn't get either one of the X Pro2 bodies I had to connect to the Instax printer.

My replacement X Pro2 from B&H gave me the Turn On/Turn Off error message after 10 shots. It's boxed back up and going back. I ordered a Df at the same time to see which one I preferred. Fortunately I won't have to pay a restocking fee on the X Pro2. I prefer the X Pro, but it isn't much good if the camera doesn't work. Looks like I will be keeping the Df. I still can't understand why Nikon didn't provide a split prism focusing screen. I have a third party one I am taking to Precision Camera in Austin to have installed. Wish everyone the best of luck with their X Pro2. It's a really nice camera but two faulty bodies in a row is enough for me. I had the sticky aperture blades with my original X100, light leaks with my XT1, my X100T is still in NJ getting a broken viewfinder fixed. I guess I just have bad luck with Fuji products. BTW- That Sigma 35mm F1.4 is a really great lens. I used it on the Df today and am really impressed. I had used Sigma lenses in the past with mixed results but this one is definitely a cut above what they usually produce.

I am equally mystified. The only reason I had to talk to B&H this AM was the original RMA they sent me included a return/replacement. When I asked how long it would be for a replacement out of curiosity, he told me best case was 3-5 weeks. He wasn't specific but he did mention the delay was possibly due to a significant number of return/replacements. He sounded as if he had been fielding a number of these calls and was kind of irritable about it. I took the camera out again today to make sure. I'm still in my cancellation window on the Df. My lenses have buyers which are local so I can back out. I am going to think about it overnight. It is a really nice camera but this is what I would call not acceptable given the problems I have had with the original X100 and XT1. If I hadn't had to send my X100T in for repair two months after the warranty expired I probably would have not been as adamant. But something is clearly wrong at their production facility. I'm not sure what I am going to do. I am going to decide tomorrow. When I was able to use it, it was everything I wanted the original X Pro to be. I am really torn on this because the camera is very nice and has an OVF which is important to me. If it wasn't I would just get the new Sony and save $700. But seriously, replacing the entire lens mount on a camera they spent three years working on? Not encouraging. If I decide to keep it, I'm stuck shooting film for the next 5 weeks. At least I have a darkroom.

If you have the black frames you should return the camera. That is probably a lens mount issue. A rep from B&H told me this AM they were getting a lot of return requests.

You are correct it is the electronics. However for those dwindling number of us who prefer some type of optical viewfinder you are still stuck with the mirror box. From my 1 day with it, I think the X Pro 2 is a great size. Beautiful camera, terrible execution. That said I would love a digital FM2. Of course once you add auto focus either the lenses or the bodies start getting bigger. I wish someone would make a fully manual digital FM2. I just cannot understand why Nikon does not make a split prism for the Df. There is a third party company that makes them so I ordered one of those...sigh............

I already have a buyer for all but two of the lenses and have a Df shpping today from B&H. I went through the repairs on the original X100 for the aperture blades and XT for the light leak/d pads. I'm just not willing to do it again with them for their new 3 years in the making flagship camera. The repair will definitely involve a lens mount replacement per Fuji Repair. Right now my X100T is having a new top plate put on at $275 because the viewfinder shutter is faulty. Maybe it's bad luck or maybe it's just poor quality control. Either way, I'm not impressed with the camera bodies from a quality perspective. I really liked what I saw with the X Pro 2, but I am not willing to send in a brand new $1700 camera for a 3-4 week lens mount replacement. The lenses are good, but heck they are all good now compared to when I started doing photography in the 70's.

Well having lugged around a Hasselblad and a Horseman 4 x 5 for years with tripod, I think even someone at my advanced age can handle a Df and a couple of lenses. I am just glad I kept that FM2 + 2 lenses. I almost sold it because I bought a used M6 with a 35 F2 a few years ago. It was more out of nostalgia than anything else. I had taken a lot of photos with it and had a hard time letting it go. Too bad on the X Pro 2. I shot it a lot on Saturday when it was working. It was just about everything I wanted the original X Pro to be. I really liked the ISO dial on it. I never liked that XT 1. I prefer an optical viewfinder. I got a confirmation from Fuji repair that the On/Off issue is more than likely with the lens mount. It was pretty obvious that wasn't a firmware issue. The camera's shutter also will periodically not fire at all. Oh well. Maybe I will try again in a couple of years when they get the bugs sorted out and their quality control has improved. I may end up keeping the X100T when it gets back from the repair shop. Between the $1400 purchase price and the $275 repair it probably doesn't make much financial sense to sell it.
