I've noticed that on XF 35mm 1.4, and assume it's "hunting" more due to whole picture changes during focus and whole lens group move. Looks like FW 4.20/4.30 has a bit increased AF-C sensitivity there,
I don’t normally use continuous focus mode but yes, you are right, the camera does what you describe.
Also my 60 macro appears to be hunting more than it did before ( I hate that it is so difficult to do these things by memory Ideally one would have to have a camera updated and another camera not updated to compare!).
It performs more like before it did with firmware 4.0 .
The same slight hunting appears to be true with the same lens on the X-E2.
By increasing the size of the focussing area by one click things are better both with my 60mm and with the 18-55 at 55mm.
Mmmm! A bit puzzled there! Has the 60mm, especially, done a step back?
That is quite normal in AF-C, the camera is expecting some moving subject, thus if you stay still you are confusing the AF in what you are trying to achieve.
