I think we will have an answer soon. Watch what happens to the XE2 price after X-T10 hits.  That should be quite telling of what their plans are in terms of market positioning and firmware AF update plans for the X-E2.

A cheaper X-T10 in the form X-E2 (w/ AF update) does not make sense to me.  An X-E2 w/ AF update at the same price as X-T10 does not make sense to me either as it may affect X-T10 sales.   Only thing that make sense to ME, is a  reduced prices on existing X-E2 stock w/o AF update.   Updating firmware on X-E2 will affect secondary market price values, which is not something that I think would be a good thing for new X-T1 AND T10 sales.  People are already have enough problems deciding between X-E2 and X-T1.  Holding back Af update on X-E2 will create further market separation between X-T1, X-T10 and X-E2.

I have already asked Porsche to add new features and performance specs of their current 911 Turbo to my used Cayenne, which is only two generations behind the current model. If they don't comply, I'll start a shitstorm in the Porsche forum. Of course I expect them to provide that update free of charge.

LOL! Yeah, that's exactly what they said about the X-T1.

So now we are comparing cameras that don't even officially exist, yet.

I had a very good experience visiting the Fujifilm Square on the ground (first) floor of Fujifilm's head office in Tokyo Midtown. There are a couple of photo exhibitions, which are pleasant, and a lineup of old cameras as well as all the X-series (including the 90mm f2). However, the highlight is the lens and camera rental service. If you return the gear before 6:30 the same day, it is free. Today I took out the 16-55 and 50-140 lenses for the day. All lenses and bodies are available; you just need to show photo ID and a credit card.

I also had a chat with the man at the service desk. He confirmed the old story that the buttons on the early-run X-T1 (which I have) are mushy and useless, and were replaced fairly early on in the production run (and of course in the graphite version). There is no replacement service but if the buttons become completely unresponsive they will swap them out.

I asked if the 90mm will be available for a day's free rental next week. No, all the early copies will be supplied to retail, and it will be a couple more weeks before Fujifilm get any for us to play with.

Hope this helps - a great way to spend an afternoon in Tokyo. Numbers of rental copies may be limited - I got the last 16-55 on a Wednesday afternoon - but the whole range is there.

flysurfer reacted to citral in Have Fuji ditched old x series Xe 1 and x pro 1 no sign of any updates???
It's obvious that Fuji cannot allocate so much resources to old cameras (3 years old) when they have already put so much effort to improve them and have so much to develop still (compact 35 and 23mm F/2, maybe an update of the 18mm, X-PRO2, X-E3 etc. etc.)

I think it's quite annoying that so much people are shouting "GIVE ME CLASSIC CHROME OR ELSE..." when they already had so much improvements, pushing the hardware to the limits of what it can do, and keeping in mind that people actually bought this cameras either not giving a damn about jpegs because they use raw, or buying them for the FUJI film simulations, not kodak. They bought them as they were, no reason to complain.

So really it's just a bad case of envy. They had too much already I think from Fuji, they just can't stop wanting MOARRRR.

And anyway if I were Fuji, why would I ever bring an old camera in line with the newest model so everybody can get it used for 200$? I wouldn't, nobody would.

People could very well enjoy their X-E1 + 50mm F/1.4 for the next 5 years if they were really interrested in photography itself, instead of thinking that not having Classic Chrome limits their creativity...
