The final part of my three instalment article that compares the two XF23s (F1.4 & F2) Today, I finish comparing the rendering differences between the two 23s and as is the custom which such things - I write a conclusion! Enjoy!

adzman808 got a reaction from Hermelin in Tone and colors on the 1.4 vs 2.0 WE lenses?
I've finished writing up my comparison of the two 23s
I haven't looked at the two 35s yet - but if you harmonise exposure between the 23s you see a big difference in colour/contrast rendering
you can see this in my examples in part three
http://adambonn.com/my-love-affair-with-the-fujifilm-x-pro1/xp2-eighty-two/
There's also some examples of this in part two

Great comparison. I fully agree with your findings. And actually think they can be transferred to the other Fujinon f2's excl. the 90mm. I have just ordered the 56mm f1.2 and will be selling my 50mm f2 for the exact same reasons; that wonderful color rendering it shares with my 14mm, 35mm f1.4 and 23mm f1.4. Those lenses are simply in a league of their own.

Thank you for great review and comparison,
I must say I prefer much more files and rendering from X-pro1.
But the files I like best produce GFX, and A-X serie.

adzman808 got a reaction from johant in Why do I prefer my x-pro1's images over my x-pro2's?
Because the raw converter reads the meta data that Fuji embedded into the RAW
RAW is only 'raw' data until you open it with something, then that data becomes that something's interpretation of that data
Open the same RAF in LR, C1, RFC, ID, SP, RT, PN (any others lol?) make zero edits and export to jpeg, they will all look different
(I'm going to be writing about this quite in depth on my site quite soon)

adzman808 got a reaction from MartinP in 35mm f2 vs f1.4
If you use AF the fuji cameras perform AF at the wide open aperture (they stop down when you half press the shutter unless you're using the preview DOF function)
This is why the 1.4 has faster AF in low light, it's got a stop more light gathering AF ability (even if stopped down on the aperture ring)
IQ is subjective. Sharpness is not equal across the image between the lenses, ie where in the F2 is sharper in the centre at F2 it's weaker in the extreme corners. The Fuji vs Fuji review stated that by F5.6 the 1.4 was sharper everywhere
So the strengths and minuses of each lens is well known. Unlike the two 23s or the 50/56 there's not a colossal cost or size saving to pick to one over the other
I own both. I personally prefer the 1.4, I might flip the f2 as I never use it

adzman808 got a reaction from Curiojo in XPro2 - Firmware Problem? AF is happening in MF mode
Just got this email:

Date: 19 June 2017 at 09:48:47 WEST
To: Mr Bonn <adam.bonn@xxxxx>
Subject: Your query regarding Fujifilm
Ask Fujifilm
Dear Mr Bonn,
Thank you for contacting Fujifilm UK.
Fujifilm in Japan are working on a firmware upgrade to fix this phenomenon. It will be announced as soon as it is available.
We apologise for this inconvenience.
Kind regards
The Fujifilm X World Team
=======================
I can't imagine it's worth asking WHEN as Fuji UK are unlikely to know and let's be honest the recent historical FW releases have been announced as "coming late May" so I doubt we'll get a cast iron date
Still on the plus side, it sounds like Fuji are acknowledging there's an issue and are working to rectify it
So PERSONALLY I'm not that unhappy, had this email said something like 'we can't replicate the problem, have you tried a system reset, beyond that we don't have any suggestions' then I'd have been pretty far from happy
So now we wait for the next FW.

adzman808 got a reaction from dfaye in My X-Pro2 Review.
As I explained last week - due to a mix up - Fujifilm lent me the XF56APD (it was supposed to be the 50/F2 WR)
So now I can take a closer look at the two fifty-sixes and the images they make
So, here's part two:

Due to a mix up - Fujifilm lent me the XF56APD (it was supposed to be the 50/F2 WR)
I'd tested and loved this lens before - but ended up getting the XF56R
Last time I wasn't able to compare the two Fifty Sixes, but now (for a limited time) I have both of them!
So, let the three part comparison begin - Addendum: The XF56 APD Vs The XF56R Part One
