SimonF reacted to MARRIEDGUY9 in Fuji Birds
I originally thought this was an immature blue heron...........I believe this is a "little blue heron". First time I've seen one of these in person.

You wanted some mountains, Jerry, but I reckon by now you have had enough of them. Cheers, my friend.

SimonF reacted to Johan O E in The amazing 7artisans 35mm1.2 mark2
I was after a manual 35mm lens for my Fujifilm lineup and there's a sea of them out there. I own vintage Olympus 35mm & a Leica Leitz Summicron 35mm. But they are heavy and pretty big with the adapters. So I got a used 7artisans 35mm1.2 mark2 for 80 euros.
After just a few minutes with it I was in love. It’s by far the best manual lens I've tried. Great built, small, smooth focus ring and great optically.
It optically beats all my vintage optically from Konicam Olympus and Leitz/Leica.
I find it optically better than the new Voigtländer 35mm 1.2 nokton X from f1.2 to f2.
The rendering is old school but the sharpness is there. Looks great to.
Here on my XT2

The Bridal Veil...

A long time ago, a big 'ol star near the Cygnus Constellation got very down-sized by collapsing in on itself. But things went too far, so much too far that it turned into a super-nova and the remains of that were discovered by William Herschel in 1784. This one goes by several names, the Cygnus Loop, the Filamentary Nebula, the Bridal Veil Nebula or just the Veil Nebula among other names. Then astronomers started giving names to the parts they could see and we have, today, three main named parts. The Western Veil Nebula, also known as the Witches Broom Nebula -- NGC 6960, the Eastern Veil Nebula -- NGC 6992 and some of the middle part called Pickering's Triangle also known as Fleming's Triangle. (Williamina Fleming discovered it and named it after the director of the observatory she used to find it. It does not have a NGC number because she discovered it after that catalog was published.)

This one is not too hard to find and see in telescopes in moderately dark skies. Just look for the Swan up in the sky and start from there.
This is the equivalent of a few moments more than 32 minutes of exposure.

I love my X-T4 and you will too. I purchased an X-T1 when they were first released - I’m never getting rid of that camera: its a work of art.

Started my Fuji journey with an X-E1. Moved on to a X-T1, followed by an X-T2 plus 4 lenses.
Diagnosed with cancer - regarded as terminal though could be a year or two. Who knows, I’m 79 anyway so…
Lost my mojo a trifle - for some reason - and decided I wasn’t either very interested or not prepared to lug around the kit. Sold it all and bought a Sony RX100 vii.
Clever little device - a 28-200 equivalent lens, focussing ability Fuji would die for, and a viewfinder (unusual in smaller cameras.
So far so good 👍
But - I hate it! 🤨
X-T4 arriving tomorrow, hopefully…

At first, it may not be apparent what this Twig is doing … collecting four leafed clovers? grooming an otter?

SimonF got a reaction from thelostkiwi in Adapter for a Carl Zeiss T 50mm F1.7 manual lens

SimonF reacted to thelostkiwi in Adapter for a Carl Zeiss T 50mm F1.7 manual lens
Plenty on eBay and Amazon.
The one I use is a KEF Concepts which works fine.
Remember you will have no AF, no feedback of aperture and will need to stop the lens down manually.
That all said vintage lenses are a bargain and you can get a very good lens for not much money.
For example I paid £15 for a Carl Zeiss Jena 135mm f/3.5 lens in m42 fitment and it is pin sharp even wide open. Likewise Minolta MD 75-200 f/4.5 (£25), Minolta MD III 35-70 f/3.5 Macro (£20) and Rollei (Zeiss) 50mm f/1.8 HFT (essentially a Rollei QBM version of the C/Y 50mm 1.7).
Minolta in the 1970s worked with Leica and both the MD lenses above are identical optically to their Leica SLR counterparts at a fraction of the price. Likewise Zeiss worked with both Rollei and Contax (though Rolleinar and Yashica lenses are not the same as the Zeiss ones).
