Maurice got a reaction from x-tc in Fuji X-T10 KIT will cost €849 in Europe
The Auto switch according to Fujirumors activates Full Auto with scene recognition.

This is like SR+ mode on the X-M and X-A series (i would guess), and this is good because i must say Fuji's scene detection actually works really well.
See youtube (like the fujiguys videos) about those cameras for a demonstration.

But i've used SR+ (previously EXR) in real life and i know the beginner will be very happy with this, or more likely spoiled by it -not realizing how good it actually is. ;-)

Maurice reacted to milandro in Should I upgrade to an X-T1?
the “ components” aren’t almost identical between X-T1 and X-E1 ( very different EVF and the X-E1has an early processor, making many of the X-T1 improvements impossible for this camera) , the X-T1 has obviously superior performance and the update in just a few days will make the gap only that much bigger. Besides if you are a theater photographer  you will be missing the electronic shutter. Investing in a X-E2, at this point, is not wise since that camera will be the next one to be given a slow or no kaizen at all.

Obviously, unless somebody is crazy at Fuji, the X-10 won’t outperform the X-T1 and it certainly won’t in the area that a theater photographer should appreciate the most, the EVF.

Yet, I would wait until the X-T10 has come out and then I would put the two cameras side by side because it is possible that the the difference between the two is not big enough for you to decide to go the X-T1 direction.

Maurice reacted to paulb in Visiting Fujifilm in Tokyo
I had a very good experience visiting the Fujifilm Square on the ground (first) floor of Fujifilm's head office in Tokyo Midtown. There are a couple of photo exhibitions, which are pleasant, and a lineup of old cameras as well as all the X-series (including the 90mm f2). However, the highlight is the lens and camera rental service. If you return the gear before 6:30 the same day, it is free. Today I took out the 16-55 and 50-140 lenses for the day. All lenses and bodies are available; you just need to show photo ID and a credit card.

I also had a chat with the man at the service desk. He confirmed the old story that the buttons on the early-run X-T1 (which I have) are mushy and useless, and were replaced fairly early on in the production run (and of course in the graphite version). There is no replacement service but if the buttons become completely unresponsive they will swap them out.

I asked if the 90mm will be available for a day's free rental next week. No, all the early copies will be supplied to retail, and it will be a couple more weeks before Fujifilm get any for us to play with.

Hope this helps - a great way to spend an afternoon in Tokyo. Numbers of rental copies may be limited - I got the last 16-55 on a Wednesday afternoon - but the whole range is there.

The X100's are absolutely fantastic as a second body along with any interchangeable lens camera, IF you like the 35mm focal length of course it is a no brainer imho.

Alternatively, it could be that you want to switch between a standard zoom and a longer tele often, then a 35mm isn't going to do you much good as the zoom already covers that. A second interchangeable lens body might be of more use in order to have a long tele always at the ready. Then of course the Hybrid Viewfinder is of little use, while the higher resolution EVF and faster focusing of X-E2 would be most useful !

Maurice reacted to papedo in landscapes with fuji x
i do a lot of different photography and really enjoy all of them but my secret love is still landscape photography.
as a former nikon user (still using it sometimes) i wasn´t completely sure about the landscape capabilities of the xtrans sensors. i read a lot about it and wasn´t aware, until a few days ago, that many users don´t like the rendering for landscapes.
anyway i decided to buy a zeiss 12mm and adapt my 100mm filter system to it. and it works fine. let me know your experience for landscape. i´m actually using the x-e2 with xf23, zeiss touit 12mm, 55-200 & 18-55. i´m now considering a x-t1 because of tilt screen and weather sealing...

These turned out surprisingly well !

Is this really about the X-M1 though? Seem it would be a perfect match for the Adapting Lenses to Fuji X section.

Most likely it will be months before I get into another project that justifies renting MF camera with a LS lens, so I cannot provide any examples yet. But it's relatively easy to imagine. Lessay, you are panning your lens while tracking the subject. Upon opening, the leaf shutter represents  an aperture – going all the way from f/infinity to f/working and back. As a result, you have a really cool shift of DOF, diffraction artifacts, weird fringes at specular highlights etc, etc, etc. Very unique look. I dearly miss it.
