  1. If $699 is the price range that you are looking in, the X70 will make a great camera for capturing the life of your new baby (congratulations by the way)! The 18mm lens is roughly the equivalent of what you would get from an iPhone and since it is a wider lens it will distort faces a bit if you try to do close up portraits. If you're willing to spend a little more, I would recommend the X-E2 or X-T10 and one of the two 35mm lenses. This focal length will allow you to get better portrait style shots. The advantage of the XF 35mm f/1.4 is that it will let you shoot in lower light but the XF 35mm f/2 will focus faster and more accurately. I would stay away from the 18-55mm zoom for this purpose because most of your shots will be inside in the early years. Once the baby is older and running around outside the zoom would be great for keeping up with the action.
  2. Between the three lenses that you started out considering, I would narrow it down to the 35mm and 56mm. The 60mm is far too slow to focus, limiting its usefulness. I believe that you already discovered this with your trial. The 35mm is a more flexible focal length. I bought it at the same time as the 56mm and have been surprised by how much I use the 35 instead. The 56mm f/1.2 is the best lens of the bunch though and extremely sharp. Working in low light with this lens was a revelation for me. If you enjoy closeups and especially portraits or candid shots, I would recommend the 56mm as a supplement to your 18-55 since the zoom gives you f/4 at the long end. If you are looking to leave the zoom at home and work exclusively with a single prime lens, I would go for the 35mm. The good news is that both of these lenses are incredible!
  3. When traveling I like to make sure that I have the ability to capture the image that I want in places that I may never be able to visit again. I would highly recommend the XF 10-24mm for this reason. You will have a better chance of capturing the image that you want, especially when buildings prevent you from backing further away from your subjects as they do in so many of the compact streets of Europe's cities.
  4. I have contemplated this same decision for a long time. I ultimately decided that I wanted my second camera to be different enough from my primary camera that I would have a reason to use it instead. This is the X100S for me. The more compact size and the unique shooting experience means that I still choose to use it at times over my X-T1. I think that the X100 series offers a great backup for Fuji shooters using one of the ILC bodies.
  5. Great to see them all in one place! I love the looks of the XF 35mm f/2!
