Xt-2 won't take pictures/video when shutter is pressed.

I have the exact same problem. When pressing the shutter button in playback mode, it takes me back to shooting mode. This suggests the shutter button is not dead. However, when pressing the shutter button in shooting mode, it doesn't do anything. I was also not able to shoot from display (I can see the logo of an index finger with "shot")
