I'm lucky, because I can recreate the grid artifacts also with my X-T1 (in this case with the 35mmF1.4 attached) :-)
 
But a minimal adjustment by super-slightly changing the angle, and it's gone.
 
I hear and read that this is an issue also with Olympus and other mirrorless cameras, due to the reflection of the light hitting the sensor on the rear element of the lens.
 
 
 
 

Ok, in that respect I clearly have to contradict. ;-) I don't think the improvements are "negligible". In the case of the X-T2 they are huge imho, in the case of the X-Pro2 the improvements are nothing else than spectacular. Those improvements have been the reason for me to switch to the system... nonetheless, the grid pattern are annoying though.

I have owned the 10-24 but at some point I decided to part with it and sold it to a friend who wanted to buy that lens. I’ve never used the 16 but I know that, although this lens is certainly a great lens, I wouldn’t use much this particular focal length.
 
The lightest and best performance for the price wideangle has to be the 12mm Samyang f2. The lens is hard to beat under all circumstances which won’t require you to change focal length or have autofocus.
The image quality of this lens is absolutely in the same ballpark as the 10-24.

Styled and shot a quick shoot with my good friend Rebekah. She's much more of a commercial face than editorial, so it was a much simpler shoot than what I'd usually go for. X-Pro2 with 35mm f/1.4 and 56mm f/1.2
 
 

Styled and shot these images with Jessica, who you MIGHT recognize from Asia's Next Top Model (if you watch that sort of thing) which is airing right now.X-Pro2, 56mm, 35mm f/1.4, 16mm f/1.4. Natural light, no modifiers.
