  1. i'm a pro, and have owed xe1 xe2 xt1 (still have 2, selling one) and the X-T2.... and the X-T2 is the first one that keeps up with me. Although I did shoot significant jobs with the xt1, I found it to be crippled when it came to stuff like portraits of busy people when I was under pressure -- the recording time was much slower, and images which I wanted to review for, say, lighting, didn't pop up fast enough. And so for those i used my canon 5d mk3. I've found the xt2 focus faster; i like the redundant card slots; i like the write/review speed. The better fuji lenses are amazing. The higher pixel count is welcomed. I find the xt2 better for skin tones than the xt1. but... the canon files really do sing. if the canon's weren't so heavy and bulky, i'd prefer them. but they weigh a ton, i love the fuji electronic viewfinder, and the xt2 is fun to use.
  2. i use a canon 430EX inexpensive (kind of -- on ebay,) lightweight (relatively) i use em on manual, and with off camera radio transmitters as well
  3. @octobercrow -- chimping is looking at your pictures on the back of the camera and going "ooo ooo ooo" on a commercial shoot yesterday using the back LCD a lot, AND chimping, i got over 300 RAW + jpegs before swapping batteries.
  4. I have been using MeFoto, carbon, not sure the model number but the price was about $350 US. well made, lightweight, sturdy. very nice ball head. recommended!
  5. one thing i like with this T2 is that the image review seems to pop up a LOT faster. i find this handy for looking at lighting, especially on portraits. i like the joystick, have disabled all directional buttons. i DO NOT like the push button on the ISO. i was quite comfortable with the T1 ISO, just like my old film cameras (does that date me? )
  6. Nice! what lenses did you use for this gig? really like my xt2, and will now sell at least one of my xt1's if not both to upgrade. it does seem a tiny bit heavier, though.
  7. and... you still can get to 180 -- well, not quite! -- by setting your shutter speed on 125 or 250 and then using the dial in back to get to 160 or 200th. close enough, i would guess?
  8. odd, i cannot get this shortcut to work consistently. and @sarawak -- you are incorrect, when the menu DOES come up, it says FORMAT. OHHHHH --- LONG PRESS of the trash button, THEN command button and VOILA. NICE! still would be ultra good to have this in My Menu or Q menu. just DUMB not to.
  9. Ron -- when in auto on aperture, the camera chooses the correct aperture to make the exposure "correct." to see the EVF darken or lighten, you turn the dial on the top at far right, the exposure compensation dial. you will see the results in the EVF. don't know why you were subject so such a snarky answer from the other person.
  10. MAYBE a dumb question, wouldn't be my first. You can go into the menu/screen options and toggle the setting to turn on or off preview exposure and white balance, and they also ship the camera with that option set for the d-pad button at the bottom ... but when i toggle through the settings using the dPad, the preview exposure works, and the option to turn it off works, but i cannot get it to turn the preview with exposure and WB back on. works through the menu, but not through the dPad. Broken, or operator error? Anyone?
  11. @mvlow as long as you're getting yourself a (small) bagful of lenses, i'd suggest the 14mm. small, sharp, wide.
  12. The x-t1 is an EXCELLENT camera, especially if you're a "Newbie." Try to find one used, and take tons of photos over the next year. Then, if you feel you must, upgrade to XT2. I'm a pro... have 2 xt-1s and a bunch of lenses. I'm going to upgrade to the newer body because the larger files will in fact be welcome, especially when it comes to printing double-page magazine spreads, or cropping a vertical out of a horizontal (blame art directors for this, not me!). You can put the money you save toward one of Fuji's super-sharp better lenses. my two cents!
  13. I'm HEAVILY in favor of the lightweight x100T. i'm a professional photog with a couple of xt1s and and have owned the xe1 and xe2... last year went on a 2 week trip to france with only the x100T. because you can put it in a coat pocket, you don't even notice it, won't want to ever leave it in the hotel. while the xe2 and the kit lens is pretty small, i feel it requires a small bag... whereas the x100t is so light you sometimes have to check if it's really on your shoulder. so... my two cents.
  14. @petergabriel -- if you look at "china guy"s shot you see that the people are not distorted. if he tipped the camera up or down, you'd notice distortion in the whole scene. whether you wish to call this wide or ultra wide (a superfluous argument -- look at the image, not the tech talk, no one will care what you call it when they see the picture) -- the 14mm is a pretty wide lens that us really really sharp. i've used it for a couple of years as a working pro, it is a pleasure to work with, too compact not to take along on a shoot, and offers a useful perspective. get it, use it, learn it, love it :-)
