Napier, NZ a few years back.
I had to quickly get my camera when I saw these kids walking home late at night. It look timeless but it was 2017. Not the best crop or the sharpest but at least I got the moment.

Here's the final result. It took Focus Stacker an hour and a half.

No photo to post yet, it's processing!
I bought Focus Stacker for my iMac and have only dabbled. This morning is my time for trying new stuff.
I'm shooting with the 80 f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro on an X-T30 II, shooting at f/4, using focus bracketing in manual mode. Dang -- I normally set shutter speed manually, had the exposure meter centered on its scale, and then discovered the shutter speed knob was accidentally set between the A and the 4000, EXIF reports 1/105 s.
My subject is a found coil spring 35 mm in diameter and 50 mm long, which was buried in the yard and is very heavily rusted with rich rusty shades and texture. Its closest point is 60 mm from the front of the lens hood.
I find 227 steps at the most coarse step size setting of 10 covers the entire spring. Scrolling through the photos gives this nice effect of the sharp areas traveling through the spring. But that is a lot of photos, 5.3 GB!
What does the step size number actually mean? Is it scaled to the lens focal length, aperture, and focus distance? When I look around online I see a lot of focus stacking done with maybe 5 or 10 or 20 images, not hundreds.
Do you use focus bracketing and image stacking? How many images do you usually use?

I fell for Fujifilm recently. I loved 35 mm film photography in manual exposure mode, and somebody pointed out the X-T30 which operates much like my beloved Canon and Nikon full manual cameras. Having controls fall naturally to the hand is everything in a good camera. It’s nice that I could set both command dials to control ISO, which is a dial I never had to use while actually shooting on film.

I haven’t tried the camera much in any automatic modes, except that I did do a series of test photos to analyze with RawDigger, sweeping through all the available ISO settings. I used aperture priority so the camera could select various odd shutter speeds, letting me keep aperture (and vignetting) constant throughout the experiment.

Some of the things that have blown me away which I didn’t even know about when first getting into Fujifilm: the OIS is so good it’s scary, letting me handhold way longer and slower lens settings than I’d have imagined, like I’m temporarily pinning the image to the world. Autofocus is super nice and sharp, and it’s fantastic being able to touch the LCD screen to focus on a particular area anywhere in the image and fire off a shot. And the 50 mm f/1.0 shooting at f/1.0 is amazingly selective for the distance things are in focus, almost like dropping a curtain behind the subject.

I bought a set of Fujinon XF prime lenses:
    14 f/2.8 R
    27 f/2.8 R WR
    35 f/1.4 R
    50 f/1.0 R WR
    80 f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro

And a couple Fujinon FX zoom lenses:
    18-135 f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR
    100-400 f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR

    Other Fujifilm gear:
    XF2X TC WR 2x Teleconverter
    X-T30 II Camera Body

    And a third party item:
Meike 6.5 f/2.0 Circular Fisheye, a $129 barrel distortion of fun!

FujiRumors has reported that one of the two X-H2 models being introduced will be called the X-H2s. The comment thread is rife with speculation as to what the "S" means. My bet is "Stills" because using the "S" designation for the video version is a Sony thing.

I could care less how a screen does or doesn't articulate the deal breaker for me will be the rumored cost of $2,500 which is a lot for fixed income folks. I really enjoy my X-H1 and was looking forward to the 2 until i heard the price.

Yes, My X-H1 is a great camera.
No need for me to upgrade, stills only shooter makes it even less likely.
There sure are high expectations for the X-H2, however, could be hard to resist.
Sure will be interesting, May right around the corner.

I was at a Fuji Day at a local camera store and I got a chance to speak with the Fuji rep for our side of the country. While he did not spill any details about the X-H2, he said that Fujirumors, despite not being directly affiliated with Fujifilm, has only been wrong once in their Fuji camera predictions in the last ten years and it's not this camera.
I put myself on the waiting list at the store right then and there.

What uses are there from three megapixels between Sony's 43 Mpix and X-H2's 40 Mpix?
    1. Cropping for lens quality?
    2. Intellectual property gap?
    3. Mosaic (X-trans) efficiency vs Bayer?
    4. Adding 1.5 more Mpix of phase-detect elements or (O_O) time-of-flight array elements; pure fantasy, I know.

    1. Integrate the "selfie" feature into the display's arm and limit its flexibility for people behind the camera or,
    2. Create self-standing selfie monitors between 50 mm and 300 mm diagonal that plug into the video port, run off their own batteries and show all of the camera info and live image as if it were a viewfinder. People can use a remote or phone application to control the camera when facing it.

I bought an X-T2 to try my hands on X-T camera and like it a lot. Its tilting LCD screen is very sturdy. The tilting screen is great for street photography too, which  I don't have on my X100F. Although I don't need it personally, I do understand the need for fully articulating screen for folks who use it to create videos on youtube (and other applications ...).

If you don´t need and use them fully articulating screens are just ridiculous! I totally agree: if there is another absurd display as in the x-pro 3 or x-t4 the new one won`t be mine.

Not arguing with anyone about their preferences, but I love the fully articulating screen and will not buy a Fujifilm camera that doesn't have one. I passed on the recent X-T3 sale because it did not have one.
Viewfinders are the most important item for me and the X-Pro3 is a camera I am looking to buy on sale, after the X-H2 is announced; unless of course it offers one better with the X-H2.  LCD's are awful for anything in my view but reviewing pictures taken.
Smeared scratched LCD screens with those absurd screen protectors, inability to see in strong sunlight, are a joke compared to a real first class viewfinder as on the X-Pro3 and I wish Fujifilm would advance them and place them on more cameras.
No problem however, understanding how others think the opposite.

I originally came from canon cameras, that had the same articulating screens, and i hated them.
They are useless in windy land/seascape situations, where they effectively double the profile of the body, causing camera shake.
While it would be nice if Fuji could produce bodies with either an articulating or hinged rear screen, its probably very impractical, and expensive.
Unfortunately video vloggers make the most noise, so the rest of use have to put up with it, or find another manufacturer that doesn't use these type of screens.
I've been using Fujiflm ever since i purchased a X-T1 in 2014, if i have to upgrade my T2, it properly wont be Fuji.
