Hello guys, I know this question comes up a lot, but I have yet to find an answer.
When shooting in RAW, JPG, or RAW + JPG, I can magnify the LCD (using focus check) and then rotate the command dial and get either 50% mag or 100% mag. Rolling the wheel switches between the two mag levels. This works fine for checking focus before taking the image.
After taking the shot, I can review the image and magnify the LCD to 50% for RAW and 100% for JPG.
Based on my searches of the Forums, I understand that the camera needs a full size JPG (on the SD Card) in order to get the 100% mag. RAW images only have a small preview, so they can only provide 50%. The common solution people suggest is to shoot RAW + JPG, but this does not work for me. I still can only magnify my recorded image to 50%. The only way I can review my image at 100% is to shoot JPG only. Why? I know I can convert the RAW to a JPG using the Q menu, but this is really tedious to do when out shooting.
Any help is appreciated.
