Dont forget the lossless compression for RAW files is very effective and results in no loss of quality or speed of processing. File sizes are about 30MB and I use them all the time in conjunction with full quality jpegs.
    I use a 64GB card.
Enjoy your XS-10, I have had mine since September 2020 and love it.

As requested here are some of the first images I took with the Samyang f2.8 100mm macro lens.
These are all jpegs straight out of camera (no processing) and hand held. I used iso800 to get a reasonable speed but the IBIS made a big difference.
I have to say my main problem is the limited depth of field and focussing hand held is difficult.
Using the MF assist I have experimented using Focus peak highlighting and Digital microprism. I have found the latter to be more useful when very close.
The toadstools are appx. 2cm diameter.
The lilly flower (DSCF9402) is appx. 5cm diam.
The Salvia flower (DSCF9439) is appx. 1cm diam.
    Thanks for your interest jerryy.

I have just looked at Würzburg, Germany on line and it looks like an amazing place for photography. Old buildings, fantastic bridges over the river. The possible projects are endless.
What about the bridges of Wurzburg, day night, different weather and seasons.
You talk about the agriculture, how about a farming project. find a local farmer willing to let you on site. Farmers use amazing machinery which is always photogenic, especially in B&W.
It is too easy to dismiss your home town because it is so familiar.
Believe me, I live by the sea and have thousands of images of the same stretch of beach, you have to work at it to make it interesting.
Good luck and enjoy your photography.

I have hesitated to reply to your query as it is a difficult subject. We have all gone through finding our first suitable post processing software and it is not easy. We are overwhelmed by the number of options but you eventually realise you do need them.
I am sure that most forum members would recommend the software that they use and they all do a good job. The problem we have as new users of pp software is in knowing what we want to do to the photograph in question. The skill is in knowing what needs doing. Finding the tools to use in any software is the easier part.  The software suppliers and other third parties such as Scott Kelby provide many on-line video tutorials which are well worth watching.
I found that my local library was helpful in that I could borrow books on the subject of processing photos even though they were usually old and applied to some version of Photoshop that I did not use. In spite of this they allowed me to understand what a photo needed. Just dont try to understand all the tools, it is the 'What needs doing' that is important.
I currently use On1 Photo Raw and ACDSee though I did use Lightroom in the past. Many on this forum use Capture One. I think we all benefit from a software product that has built in Photo Management which the above have.
If you know a fellow photographer then they may be your best source of help as there is nothing better than a guiding hand.
You can always post messages on this forum for help.
To help you select a piece of software  I recommend downloading a trial first, but be mindful of the full cost as some are much more expensive than others.
I would not recommend PS elements, I started with it and wished I had not as it is far more complex than you think and has a poor user interface in my opinion.
I do not know if this has been helpful, I hope it has, Dave.

Welcome rickc, I too was new to Fuji when I got my X-S10 and 16-80mm last December. It is a great camera and lens combo.
Point 1. To wake up the camera just half press the shutter button but keep it pressed for a second or too and it will wake up. When half pressed you will feel the IBIS doing its thing , thats OK, just keep it pressed till it wakes up.
Point 2. Set the X-S10 to M mode on the mode dial and you will have aperure on the front dial and shutter speed on the rear dial. Then set the iso to Auto, Press the iso button on the top plate and use the joy stick to scroll down to the auto iso settings. The user manual does explain the auto iso settings quite well (the pdf that is). Note you can also re-assign the top left dial to exposure compensation if you like that as well. I have been using these settings just lately to photograph butterflies at high shutter speeds.
I came from using Canon and Nikon cameras and find the image quality is outstanding and hope you continue to enjoy the camera.
    Best wishes DaveC.

DaveC got a reaction from David Fleetwood in X-S10 auto ISO restricted to 1/500 sec
Minimum shutter speed seems to be limited to 1/500 sec when setting auto iso. For bird photography I would like to use 1/1000 sec.
Is 1/500 sec the limit for the X-S10?
Appreciate it if any one knows.

DaveC got a reaction from CatsAreGods in Focus Bracketing in X-S10 does not work as per the user manual.
If you look at my post of 7th January you will see that the problem was resolved, I had been pressing buttons in the wrong sequence, my post explains. This was a problem using manual bracketing and selecting point A + B.
Thankyou very much for showing your interest.

Success, the Auto focus bracket setting now works as intended. My mistake was in selecting the Drive mode first and then trying to set the menu settings.
I would like to thank everyone who has offered assistance in this, you have all been most kind. This is the advantage of a good user forum.
Happy New Year to you all, Dave.

Mig, I have a X-S10 and am very pleased with it.
You can have a different WB setting in each of the custom settings as well as in aperture priority or shutter priority or any other mode. If you set custom mode 1 to a WB setting of Daylight and then work in aperture priority with a auto WB but then switch back to custom mode 1 you will be back in daylight WB setting. When you switch back to aperture priority mode you will be back in auto WB.
You cannot bracket a custom setting, that makes no sense. A custom setting can incorporate a bracketed setting of some type.
You set up your camera with a variety of different settings eg black and white, auto WB, AF-C and then save them all as a custom setting so you can recall those settings whenever you need them.
For example I have C-1 set for action photography, C-2 for black and white and C-3 for sun rise and sun set (using different film sims and WB).
RAW files are not affected by WB in the camera. You assign a WB to them when you edit them .
    Hope this helps, Dave.

DaveC got a reaction from Jonno in Fuji XS 10
Jonno, I picked up my X-S10 yesterday and like you had some concerns regarding focus modes. My previous camera was an EOS M5 and I used auto focus but when I wanted to lock the focus I was able to press a button and go straight to Manual focus mode. I wanted to replicate this ability in my new camera and have found a solution. I have set the camera to Back Button Focus. I now press and release the AFON button for single auto-focus, press and hold the AFON button for continuous auto-focus and when the AFON button is not touched I am in manual focus mode without having to press any buttons. I used Back Button focus on my old Nikon D7000 and enjoyed using it so I hope the same for the X-S10.
I have not tried it thoroughly yet as it has been raining all day and I am waiting to get out and experiment.
If you want to know the settings let me know.
    Dave.
