Nikolai Freund's Achievements

  1. Hi, I make videos for my full time work and for pleasure. I record videos with the X-S10 internally (8-bit, so no Log) and no external monitor, using the Eterna film simulation with DR set to 400 for maximum dynamic range, Continuous AF (or Single AF for static shots) and I edit in Adobe Premiere Pro. I usually shoot on tripods or hand held. Here is an example of my work, shot on X-S10, hand holding the unstabilized Fujinon XF 16-55 f/2.8 and XF 50 f/2.0 lenses. What do you think? Do let me know if you have any questions.
  2. Hi, I am Nikolai, a self taught hybrid shooter from Norway with a background in arts and graphic design, and I work for the City of Oslo (the photo on the front page is by me, as of March 22, 2023). I deliver a wide arrange of photography and video. I document the city, city life and its inhabitants, but also anything shoot from portraiture and corporate head shots to interior photography and even food photography (I made a cook book for internal communication purposes). Attached is an example of a bus ad, 2.5 meters tall. It was so sharp, you could read the logo on the shirt! The videos I do are mainly for social media and are basically presentations or information for the public or staff, interviews and documentary style stuff for showcasing our projects. This is an example of street interviews I did during the pandemic: https://www.facebook.com/Oslo/videos/149919900421495 I use the X-S10 with the Fujinon xF 16-55 f/2.8 and Fujinon XF 50-140 f/2.8. I record videos internally (8-bit, so no Log), using the Eterna profile with DR set to 400 for maximum dynamic range when needed, and find it more than good enough for my needs. I edit in Adobe Premiere Pro. I sometimes help friends out with music videos and photography too. Below is an example of a video shot hand held with the X-S10 and the unstabilized 16-55 f/2.8 and 50 f/2.0 lenses. What do you think?
  3. I have tried a bunch of small/portable/affordable lights, but I feel they are never powerful enough. I wish I bought some more powerful lights from the beginning, instead of setting up a whole array of smaller lights that never seem adequate. I am currently using two Godox LED500LRC and three Aputure HR672C's, but I wish they were stronger (and softer!). My daylight-only version of the HR672 is much stronger. The best on-camera light I could find (at the time, some time ago) was Aputure's F7. So my recommendation is to get something more powerful than you might think, or multiple lights.
  4. Look for Linear Motor lenses, marked LM, which are quiet. I'd consider the Tamron 17-70 f/2.8 or the Sigma 18-55 f/2.8, or the Fujinon 16-55 f/2.8 (which I am using, and I'm OK with).
  5. Could it simply be that you have Face/Eye AF turned on and it finds a "face", thus changing its meter to Spot Metering?
  6. I use my X-S10 with my Android phone without problems for photography, but for video it is useless. Using the app requires patience, though, and repeatedly pairing it to the cameras WIFI. I wanted to use the app as a remote shutter and wireless monitor for video recording my self from a distance, but noticed that the video settings changed when entering that mode (such as the frame rate and resolution!), thus making it useless for me. I therefore have to set up something to focus on, use Single AF or Manual focusing, hit record, and get in the exact position of the focus.
  7. Before recording, set the AF to Single AF or Manual. If you set it to Single AF, it focuses when you press the shutter button and stays in the same place. This works very well for static shot (i.e. talking head on tripod) and prevents hunting. Manual is manual. If you're in Continuous AF you need to make sure the keep whatever you want to be in focus within the focus square in the display.
  8. The view finder of the X-S10 is identical to the one on X-T30, so I got this one https://www.amazon.com/Kiwifotos-KE-XT20-Eyepiece-Viewfinder-Eyeglass/dp/B07QMKCVXH believing it would fit, but it does not fit 100% and it blocks the screen a bit. Forced into an angle it is OK. I really liked the previous version, which was softer, also meant for the X-T30 and with better fit, but the silicon ring ripped after some time. Thats why I bought it again, but the design had changed.
  9. Switch to Movie Mode by turning the top dial > Go to Movie Settings, page two > Set HDMI OUTPUT INFO DISPLAY to OFF
  10. The solution for me was found here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/msteams_tfb-msteams_tfmac/microsoft-teams-mac-os-client-is-not-recognizing/d9e863be-d9a4-4d03-a4b8-1b5c7df58828 I tried everything. I suspected that the problem was that Teams did not get access to removable volumes, and after trying the solution above, I was asked to give access, just like with any other camera and microphone the firs time, and it worked. I have never gotten the FUJIFILM X Webcam 2.app to work, so if anyone has a fix to that, it would be much appreciated. macOS 10.15.7 Microsoft Teams 1.3.00.30874
