I bought several Nikon Fs and lenses from the 60's until I quit analog in 2010. Believing in Nikon quality and dependability, I bought a 1V2 in 2015 and was quite happy with it until 2018. Then the 10-100 zoom crapped out on me. I did some research and found that this was a common problem for that and several other 1V-series lenses. They could be repaired for about $300, but there was no guarantee that they would last, as the lenses were poorly constructed with some plastic internal components which were prone to wear. The general consensus was that Nikon flew a substandard model line to test the viability of a smaller, mirrorless model. Now they have announced the Z series. I bought a new 50mm F lens and adapted it to the 1V2, as the body still worked perfectly. That was the last Nikon product I'll ever buy. I would wait a year or more to see what the reviews say, and then there's still no guarantee of the old quality.

My first X was an XPro2 and I appreciate the way the shots with film sims go to card #2. Now I also own the 100V and XE3, and am confused about the results from sims. I've read the manuals fully, watched numerous YouTube vids and still have questions. I shoot Fine + RAW, so why don't I get a jpg image as well. I'm seeing the sim when I shoot, and when I replay, but after downloading to Lightroom Classic only have the RAW image. I have used RAW conversion in-camera and have converted virtual images in Lr, but am wondering if there is a way to get both jpg and RAW onto the card from the outset. What am I missing?

Have you checked the "drive" menu to ensure that it isn't on burst mode?

Greetings! gnuhapi is my alias and I'm an analog dinosaur, beginning to learn and get happy with digital. My first camera was a Kodak Brownie and from there I progressed through Aires, Canon, Leica, Yashica, Nikon and a few experimental stints with Hasselblad, Speed Graphic and a custom 16x20 graphic arts camera which I built into my darkroom wall. I did some photojournalism, advertising racetrack, wedding and evidence photography during several other careers which fed me. Retirement and subsequent travel brought on the sale of my surviving Nikons and the purchase of a nondescript digital, a couple of Canons and a doomed-to-failure Nikon 1V2. When the Nikon's lens failed, and my Canon G-11 would not fit the bill for a scheduled trip to Turin this April, I bought an X-Pro2. Naturally, the normal 35mm lens wouldn't suffice, so along came the 18-135. When the trip was cancelled due to the pandemic, and I was locked down at home in Spain, I amused myself shopping on Amazon. Along came an EX-3 with a 27mm, a 23mm and ultimately the X100V and too many peripherals to admit to. My photography is eclectic but heavy on a preference for Black & White and documentary shots. I also do many reference photos as I paint as well. I'm enthused to find this forum and looking forward to learning and communicating.
