  1. These posts are interesting! I’m used to LR and find their subscription better value as you get Photoshop and the mobile apps too. I like the iPad app as it’s good for quick edits. I also like that i can organise my photos into collections. Unfortunately, it runs so slowly on my MacBook. Granted, my MacBook is 5 years old and only has 8GB RAM but even with no other programs open it’s still really slow. I’m still planning to at least try the trial of Capture One but the bugs and poor performance on the new MacBooks aren’t encouraging 😬 However, when I’ve used C1 Express I’ve
  2. Hi @Jonno Thanks for your reply. I was planning to buy Capture One 21 but thinking about it I may be better with a subscription as the upgrades will work out more costly. In any case, I’m still stuck with Adobe for a while yet.
  3. Hi @Herco Thanks as always for your very helpful response. 😊 Do you know roughly how long a version of Capture One ‘lasts’? E.g. if I purchased C1 version 21 how many MacOS updates roughly before C1 would stop working? Ideally I want to avoid the subscription model but it may work out cheaper 🤔
  4. My plan at the moment is to stick with Adobe until my subscription ends. I thought I just had a few months left but they recently renewed it for another year and didn't tell me! I would like to move to C1 Fuji and just buy the software as I have no plans to change my camera for a while. However, I'm also looking into upgrading my MacBook in the future and I'm wondering if C1 will support the new M1 chip or if I'll have to upgrade from the software I purchased? I've had a look on the C1 forum but it was mostly people complaining about a lack of transparency from C1 and poor cust
  5. I’m not much help I’m afraid as I don’t tether my camera. However, I believe the new version of Capture One is out today and on their website you can get a free trial to see if you like it. So I would use the trial and see what you think.
  6. Interesting thread! I've enjoyed reading everyones 'desert island lenses' I have an X-T30 with 18-55mm lens. I really like it and have no plans to get rid of it. I'm thinking of getting another lens next year and at the top of my list is the 10-24mm mk ii. I'm also tempted by a prime and the 35mm f2 is on my list. I'll have to start saving up! 😂 I've tried out the 55-200mm for a few days and I did like it but not sure how much I would use it. I don't really have a specific photography niche and I enjoy landscapes, nature, some urban, pretty much willing to give anything a go. The one
  7. Thanks again for your helpful post! I'm very much a hobbyist so catalogue is probably a fine option for me. I just have the photos in different folders and this works for me in LR. I've never used key words or anything like that before. I'll have a look at the Catalogue vs Sessions video though, thanks.
  8. Not entirely sure what DAM means, I'm not very techy. 😬 Is it photo organisation? I just use catalogues in LR and I believe you can set these up in C1 too?
  9. Thanks @Herco for your really helpful reply. 😊 I have a MacBook Pro so I’m pleased to hear C1 isn’t so memory intensive! The plan is to cancel my Adobe subscription when I can do so penalty free, and then download the trial version of C1. If I like it, which I’m sure I will, I’ll then purchase C1 for Fuji. I think I already follow Thomas Fitzgerald on YouTube, but will check out Scott Deweiler too, I haven’t heard of him before.
  10. Thank you for this! Sorry for the huge delay in reply, I don’t think I got notified of your post. Ive set up back button focus so I use this when I remember. I’ve been having a lot of fun with my filters and it’s so easy to use them with my Fuji camera.
  11. Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. I’ve checked my Adobe account and currently stuck in a subscription for a few more months. 😩 I’m strongly considering purchasing C1 for Fuji outright and using that instead. The 21 version looks very good with a lot of useful features. My only concern is my laptop may struggle. At the moment it can run Lightroom but the RAM is almost maxed out and it’s quite slow. When I bought my laptop I wasn’t interested in photography so didn’t think much about RAM and processing power. I’m loathe to upgrade as it’s so expensive and my laptop
  12. I'm still using LR as if I leave early I have to pay almost £60 so stuck with it for now. I've managed to adjust sharpening so that artefacts etc. aren't too bad on my Fuji files. I have used the free version of C1 but need to look more into how to use it properly and think about getting the full version. I have everything all organised into collections in LR so it'll be tough to switch to C1 at first I think.
  13. Hi, I have an X-T30 and have just got a few ND filters. I’ve yet to try them out but just wondering how to focus with them, particularly the 10 stop? If I use auto focus or back button focus before adding the filter, as soon as I take my finger off the button has the camera unlocked the focus? Sorry for such a stupid question but it’s been confusing me and I haven’t found a clear answer on google.
  14. Hi Jerry, Thanks for your helpful reply! I’ll check these out. I’m happy to spend a little more if it’s good quality. Im not buying an L plate for the extra grip but just to make it easier to use with my tripod so I don’t have to screw and unscrew the plate all the time.
  15. Hi, I had a quick search for this and couldn’t see anything so apologies if it’s been posted before. I have an X-T30 which I love, but the one thing that annoys me is the tripod plate needs to be removed to access the battery compartment. I’ve seen a few l brackets which allow access to the battery compartment. I have a Peak Design tripod, so the plate needs to be unscrewed with a little key and it’s just a pain. Can anyone recommend an l bracket which is compatible with the X-T30, allows access to the battery compartment, is decent quality and doesn’t add too much bulk?
  16. Love your bee photo! Which lens did you take it with? I captured a busy bee recently too but can’t upload the photo as it says it’s too big 😔
  17. I wouldn’t expect too much from my photos, I’m very amateur and I’m lucky if they’re in focus 😂 I love my XT30 and got it with the 18-55mm lens. I’m happy with it so far and for a ‘kit lens’ it seems really well made and good quality. I’m thinking of a 35mm prime next and perhaps a wide angle after that.
  18. Hi 🙂 I had a Canon 100D which was my first camera and I recently got an XT30. I feel I use it a lot more than my Canon and really like it so far. Im still in a bit of a dilemma about which software to use. I’m used to using Lightroom and find it’s better value for money than Capture One as it has mobile apps and offers Photoshop etc. too. Ive got the free version of Capture One but have only used it a couple of times. I think I prefer the interface of Lightroom.
  19. Great photo. I’m getting used to using manual mode and really like my Fuji so far. I find I’m more inclined to take it out with me compared to my old camera I have a video call this week with a Fuji guy to go through any queries. Great service to offer and I think it’ll be really useful.
  20. Hi, Thank you so much for your reply. At the moment, I have the Capture One Express free version. I tried it yesterday with some Fuji RAW files and they definitely look much better initially than they do in LR. They did take a long time to load though and I didn't have that many images so not sure why that was. 🤔 I also struggled with exporting them to JPEG as the file sizes were absolutely massive. I had to read an article on how to adjust the sizing and then try exporting them again. I didn't mind the interface of Capture One but prefer LR, maybe it's because I'm more use
  21. Thanks for the tip 🙂 My plan was to shoot only in RAW but if I can’t zoom in enough I’ll try RAW and JPEG. I might need to get a bigger memory card!
  22. Interesting. I already use LR so if the Fuji RAW files look ok I’ll just stick with it. I think in areas of high detail there can be a lot of artefacts and ‘worms’ which don’t look very nice. I’m not sure how easy it is to sort that out in LR, especially as I’m very amateur. Apparently it’s due to the Fuji sensor and LR doesn’t process it so well. I’m getting my camera next week so will see what I think Really excited to get out photographing with it. I’ve watched YouTube videos about the focusing and it looks really good. Maybe for once my photos will be in focus 😂 Do you always use the
  23. I haven’t heard of that, interesting. I use Lightroom very tentatively and only do the basics. I have heard that it doesn’t handle Fuji RAW files so well but I’m going to see what they’re like before I think about switching to a different program. I need to work on my photography, I’m very amateur and just do it as a hobby. I’m hoping that the Fuji system with the dials will make me think about each part and hopefully improve my skills.
