Photonics's Achievements

  1. Overall, this bottleneck was only caused by delivery problems; availability will be guaranteed again from September 5th.
  2. As we all know today, there was no such deal for the market launch, but in the meantime one is already emerging. So it would be quite possible that in the autumn of this year the GFX 100S with the now rumoured GF 35-70mm F4.5-5.6 zoom lens will be available. However, this is also synonymous with a sensitive loss of quality according to the announced price. Personally, I don't think that's a very good idea, apparently it's all about promoting sales figures.
  3. I think making the GFX 50R faster and possibly equipping it with IBIS is a good idea, but to make it even more compact and cheaper is pure nonsense and hardly realistic. For the GFX 100S I see no potential for improvement for the time being, it has already been done as well as technically possible. This camera is both cheaper and lighter, why would Fujifilm now offer another variant with another model that is even more compact and cheaper than the GFX 50R? That wouldn't only be even less realistic, but also in no way sales-promoting. In the medium term, it might even be better to stop production of the GFX 50R.
  4. That's true, only a real pro can do that!
  5. No, otherwise Fuji would have designed the camera differently and provided appropriate features. Overall, it was a good decision because not everyone needs it.
  6. This topic is now as old as digital video technology itself. The decision to incorporate video technology was preprogrammed from the start. Since the infrastructure consisting of hardware and software already existed, it was only a matter of time before the performance of the processors was sufficient. The adaptation of the cameras themselves through various features was actually determined by the market and the associated competition. I'm personally not interested in videography at the moment, but if I do, I will invest in an excellent video camera, such as Black Magic.
  7. It may be true that the noise reduction profile of the two cameras differs, but it should not be overlooked that the susceptibility to noise of a BSI-sensor is generally lower, so there is a clear advantage here as well. Also, the technologies of various sensors should not be confused with each other. Although the sensors are actually manufactured by Sony, there is no Fujifilm X-Trans sensor in the Sony α7R IV, which is developed by Fujifilm and only used for Fuji cameras. The Sony α7R IV therefore works with a BSI-CMOS Bayer sensor!
  8. This is not true, the values achieved by the BSI-sensor clearly exceed those of the FSI-sensor. The size of the individual photocells only plays a marginal role, since the size difference is not so eminently large. The gain in light utilization therefore exceeds the loss in size difference. But the higher resolution brings with it other advantages that should be well known by now.
  9. Actually, this thread is only about full format, the medium format lenses for the 6 × 6 format don't have to be tested first, they all work without any vignetting and that's no surprise, they were built for it and their light circle is large enough.
  10. For your information, this is not a firmware problem, but a hardware problem. Since this model has been on the market, this topic has been discussed enough and appropriate solutions have been worked out. Please read here and here! Incidentally, there are still people who compare a medium format camera with various APS-C cameras, just ridiculous!
  11. I think this is a much better way to interact with people with a certain topic or subject. So you can answer any questions much more targeted and also show practical solutions. Some things can also be discussed more easily and openly.
  12. The discussion on this topic is as old as the X-Trans sensor itself. It is now a well-established fact that Capture One and Silkypix Developer Studio offer the best approach to read out the correct sensor data, unless you only use Fujifilm X RAW Studio. You can certainly get good results in Adobe LR too, but the handling of the X-Trans sensor is different than in the three converters mentioned.
  13. You should rather use the time you have left for more valuable things than to run a YouTube channel. Apart from that, the work is extremely time-consuming and nerve-wracking. If you are seriously interested in videography, I recommend investing in a good video camera and recording for you and your family what moves you the most. It's completely irrational to share anything and everything with the rest of the world, just to impress people you don't know at all. Most of the time it ends with the fact that their judgement is obviously so limited that one can very well do without their criticism.
