In my experience there is more sample variation with this lens, at least initially, than the 18-55. My first 16-80 was unacceptably unshared at both 16mm and 80mm. My current version, bought with the X-T5, is more than acceptable wide open and tack sharp stopped down, significantly better all around than the 18-55. Not sure if this helps much.

The 27 has been and remains one of my favorite Fuji lenses. Yes, it is compact and unobtrusive, but I also find it is consistently as sharp as my 23 and 56 - albeit with somewhat lower contrast. It has never let me down in regular use. Overall, I think it is a lens with a lot of character, which is not that easy to achieve for its rather pedestrian focal length.
