I am venturing into flash photography, a field new to me. Today, when selecting my Flash Settings, I chose the Manual option and proceeded to take pictures with and without diffusor. Photos came out a little too bright, so I thought that I might reduce the flash output. Much to my surprise, the Flash Setting Setting menu would not let me do anything but to change the M setting from M to Off, or vice versa. Also, all I can change are Red Eye Removal or TTL-lock Mode settings. I am finding no way to do anything else, much less to adjust the output in accordance to my needs. What am I doing wrong?
