Hi everyone, like you all, I've been on a photographic journey for a few years and like a lot of you, I've moved over from using Nikons to Fujifilm. I bought a Fujifilm XH1 about 2 years ago and I love it. I love the various film simulations. I paired my camera with various lenses like the wonderful Mitakon 35mm f/0.95. It usually comes along whenever I go out. Its low light and bokeh capabilities are really quite something. If that lens broke, I'd get another one without a second thought. I also got the Helios-44 58mm f/2.0 to capture more moody and/or bokehlicious images. I just got the newest 23mm f/1.4 only to replace my 16mm f/1.4 because I felt that the FOV of the 16mm was just too big for me. I'm also not a fan of the clutch. Lastly, I also have the 80mm macro lens as well as the 100-400mm. I probably won't be upgrading to the X-H2R or the X-T5 any time soon because I don't need many of the new features that those cameras provide. I use a combination of both. When taking most pictures I use the EVF as it is more natural to me. I probably use the screen when I can't seem to get in a good position to use the EVF. I know you can take pictures by taping the screen but in my mind, that would add make my camera shake and that is the main thing I am trying to avoid. Hint : Be sure you take RAW and JPG photos in order to be able to zoom in more when in preview mode. If you only take RAW photos, you'll find out that you won't be able to zoom in as much as you'd like. I never had this problem while using my Nikons.

From what I understand, Darktable is very similar to Lightroom. It does handle Fuji RAW files but as a I am also an amateur, I don't know if it does it very well or if it does a mediocre job. In any case, I've never had a problem with it. At least with the focusing system on the Fuji cameras, I'm learning a lot more about photography. My photos come out less blury because I can see what is happening when I focus the lens and camera. The stabilization features are top notch as well.

Hi, I'm glad you like my photos. I only use DarkTable to do the post processing. I do the cropping and I play with the contrast a little to get my images the way I want them. I also play with the lighting and the background of my photos a little to get a different effect before I take my photos. Cheers ! C

Hi, I've been practing with my Fujifilm XH1 for a little more than 7 months or so. I really enjoy the manual options that allow us to focus on our subjects without taking our eye off the subject. I think you'd like it. The number of features is quite amazing. I've only used a small portion of the features/tools and I find it quite impressive for an open source tool. I've used it for my Nikon cameras and now for my Fujifilm XH1. It allows you to keep your favorite tools grouped up for easy access which is very nice. The tools have the ability to use overlays and so you are not really modifying the original photos. You have the ability to turn on/off the modifications of the tools as you wish. If anything, I would wish for more videos on Youtube to help me out using the features/tools. But if you come from using Photoshop or Lightroom then you might be able to find your way around a bit more without help. Good luck

Hi, I used Darktable quite a bit on my Linux systems. I'm not an expert but it seems to do what I want when it comes to my workflow of framing, setting the contrast, colors and so on. I heard that it also works on Windows. Have you used it at all? From what I've read, it is very close to Lightroom but I've never used to Lightroom so I have no idea.

Good luck to you. As I use Linux, the kind of software I can use differs. The only thing I use is Darktable for simple modifications.

Hi guys, I use DarkTable to edit my raw files. From what I understand, it's very similar to Lightroom and it's Free and it works great on various operating systems. I've never had a need to stitch my photos but many people who do have resorted to a free utility called Hugin. I've never had any use for it but maybe it will be fine for you. Good luck,

Hi Ken, thanks. I've been thinking about those cool flashes. From the videos I've seen on Youtube, I like the way they spread out the light evenly. Do you use them in your own photography? Truthfully, I've never used a flash. I never felt I needed one until now. Chris

Hi, I own the X-H1 and the Sigma MACRO 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM along with the Viltrox Nf-fx1 adapter. It sort of works but I really want my lens settings to be transferred over to the EXIF part of the photo. In otherwords, I am looking for a smart adapter to work for these common Nikon compatible lenes. Are any of you aware of a smart adapter available for purchase? I am not willing/ready to get a native macro lens just yet. I've managed to get some OK shots with this combination but I really would love for the autofocus and other lens stabalization functions to work. Hello all, my name is Chris and I live in just outside of Paris, France. I've been into photography for about 10 years or so on and off. In the last few years, I've come to the point where I want to increase the quality in my photography. I own the Nikon D500, D5300 and now I own the Fujifilm X-H1 along with the 18-135 lens. For my macro photography, I use the Viltrox Nf-fx1 adapter along with the Sigma 105 mm f/2.8 DG EX macro lens. Like many of you here, I am self taught. I don't use Photoshop but I do use Darktable for small touchups like cropping, changing the contrast, changing my photos to black and white to make them more dramatic.
