  1. Hi Rand.. how would the camera know when the maximum intensity of the pulse cycle occurs ? I shoot with a Canon video camera as well and it has a flicker reduction setting which in the same situation/location/lighting works and I get no flicker. John
  2. Hi, does anyone have flicker reduction working in Video mode ? I can set it to on or off in stills mode but it is greyed out in video Mode. If I set it in stills mode to on or off when I switch to video mode it is always off. Anyone ?
  3. Is it just my XH-1 or is this normal ? I am a back button shooter for focusing so when taking stills I press the AF-ON button and the focus snaps in and when I press the release button to take the picture the focus remains, perfect. When I'm in video mode I still use the back button to focus but when I press the shutter button to start recording the focus is activated again. This does cause me problems. I have turned off the Shutter AF-C & AF-S in the Button/Dial settings in the Tools menu and as I say this works perfect in stills mode but I would like it to work in video mode as well. It causes me and issue when shooting video and composing the image. Any thoughts would be welcome. thank you
  4. Has anyone used an external Mic plugged in to the XH-1 ? I've done testing with a set of Rode wireless lav mics and they seem to work well. Just tried using the Rode NTG-2 shotgun mic with an XLR to 3.5mm plug cable, the sound is fine but the camera started to act really odd with countless "lock ups" after adjusting levels. I couldn't switch the camera off, using the on off switch the camera appeared to shut down but the image on the back screen stayed on and was "live" but way underexposed. I had to keep on ejecting the camera battery and then it would go back to normal when turned on. Adjusting the Mic levels on the camera was hit and miss. You could see the audio indicator working but then when I adjusted the levels the indicator stopped working. Camera off then on and the mic worked. Really buggy for sound at the moment it appears. John
  5. Mike, thanks for the reply. So one may ask "why have an internal Mic at all"? I can cope with the internal Mics turned off but I would like to know if the noise is "normal" on the XH-1.
  6. Hi, new to this group and the XH-1. I've been a professional newspaper photographer for a very long time but for the past 12 years I have been working as a freelance shooting mainly with Canon cameras. I also shoot with Canon video cameras along with my DJI drones. I am fully CAA qualified to use the drones. I have also been shooting for the past 4 years with the Fuji Xpro 1 but I have just bought the new XH-1. Initial thoughts are really impressed with the new camera, quite a beast to use along side my Canon 5d mkII's. Only one issue at the moment that I would like some advice on please. When shooting video the onboard microphones are picking up the constant mechanical noise that the camera is making. This noise is present when in stills mode as well. I thought it sounded like lens Image Stabilisation but it is still there even when IS is switched off. At present I have turned internal mics off and am using an external microphone. This works well. Even so it would still be good to know if this constant noise is normal. In which case the internal microphones are useless to even capture ambient sound. It maybe that there is a menu item that I have overlooked. Any advice would be great thank you...John James my website (none Fuji I'm afraid) is : www.johnjames.net
  7. Hi, first Post here. I’ve been a pro for over 50 years using mostly Canon gear. I’ve also been using an XPro 1 for a few years. Just bought an XH-1 as a do everythingcamera. Great build quality, great stills and video is super, does any one know how to stop the constant electronic noise eminating from the body? The noise sounds like the IS working and I’ve tried switching the IS off and in continuos and shooting only settings but the sound is still present. So much so that the onboard mics are picking up the sound being made making them useless. My little Rode camera top mucus better but does still seem to pick up the sound being made. Im guessing there is a setting I have wrong that is causing the issue. Fingers crossed. John James. www.johnjames.net
