Hi, I had the XC50-230 and found picture quality very poor versus my non-XC telephoto lenses, including the 55-200. I got rid of it. I used it with my X-E2 and then my X-T20.

I had the same issue when I first got my XE-2. That's the way the system works. It won't let you underexpose. Full manual gets over that, but you have to get ISO and aperture right for the speed, obviously. But if it is shutter speed that is key, I shoot in shutter priority, set ISO and let aperture run free. But I take test shots to get an idea of the aperture, however.

There are two settings in my X-E2. But even the smallest is wide. I suggest you go with that and crop in post processing. But I live panoramas shot in camera. Sent from my G3121 using Tapatalk

Yes. I have the same bag. Like you, I have an X-E2, 18-135, 55-200 plus can get an 18 mm and a 35 mm lens in the bag, assuming one of the big lenses is on the camera. Flash unit (EF20) goes in side pocket and spare batteries, SD cards and remote release in front, with camera manual in the back zipper. I would imagine that, as a camera maker, it does not wish to compete with software developers such as Adobe and, especially, Silkypix developer ISL. What software did you use before? I tried Luminar and, like you, found opening raf files very slow. Also didn't think sharpness/detail versus Silkypix was as good. I have left Lightroom after a year following latest update. Again, I find Silkypix a better tool to render good jpegs versus LR. Sent from my SM-A310F using Tapatalk

I have been told by Silkypix developer ISL that Globell BV is no longer selling Silkypix. You cannot buy it from the EU website. If you want to buy or try, contact info_english@isl.co.jp, they will respond helpfully, but recognise the large time difference, which adds a day to any conversation. Thanks. I have tried several times to buy an upgrade to Pro7 but nothing gets added to the basket. Tried Edge, Firefox and Chrome on W10 machine. Getting no response from any email I send to as many email addresses as I can find, including Silkypix Japan. May try using a Linux machine to get the exe downloaded. I have just returned to SP 7 Pro after a year with LR. Having learnt more about image editing first principles, I am liking SP more and more and getting better results than with LR. Looking at upgrading to SP8 Pro. I recommend SilkySoul YouTube videos to help you better understand SP. Terrible translation but very interesting, if you pay close attention. I think that Silkypix is a little complex, once you get past the standard sliders, while the help files are also dense. For a newbie, as I was, it was all a little too much. But I have just come back to SP after a year with LR and after having researched more about underlying first principles of image editing. With that knowledge I am liking SP more, and its results are better than I am achieving with LR. And since I read much about LR/RAF issues, I am not alone in thinking LR has issues. Thought I'd take advantage of the twilight to catch a moody image of St Pancras hotel. Leading lines with pedestrian walking by in same direction, focus on the clock face, exposed for clock face. A shot from Tankerton in Kent, UK. Sunset over The Isle of Sheppey. XE-2 + 18-135 lens with graduated ND filter. RAW converted in camera to be vivid plus bring brightness and shadows up. I have an XE-2. I started off using SilkyPix but found the waxy faces and poor colour rendition of midtones in poor light a problem. I had latest version SP, too. Jumped to LR on W10 machine late last year, latest version LR and CR as I am a cloud subscriber. I do not see problems with foliage. I have not seen it mentioned here, but are LR users employing the 'mask' function in the sharpening control? Hold down 'alt' and the move the masking control to the right. This will mean that only those features highlighted in white will be sharpened. Solid blocks of colour will then be left alone by the sharpening settings. Sent from my SM-A310F using Tapatalk
