Before making accusations, read the darned thread.  For example, Post #11, where the OP pete1959 writes:  "I have nothing but original Fuji batteries..."

I'll wait until the camera is released and real world experiences are (pun) developed.  The pole vault video is rumored to be set up and staged with high powered LEDs that won't create banding/rolling shutter.  I won't believe much of either argument until the camera is released to the world.

As for any person that runs a site, they are free to spill whatever nonsense they choose.  The real people that have lost it, are the ones that will take one single person's internet statements as fact and base decisions on how to spend their money purely on that.

It's great camera, overkill for the masses and not for me, but someone will be happy with it....when the matching level of glass comes out too.

Here is Ken's (Angry Photographer) video on the "staged" A9 demo, make your own judgements:

It won't be competing against the 1Dx and D5 unless it has big, fast glass: 300 and 400mm f/2.8, 500/f.4, 600/f5, etc *and* a level of support like Canon provides at major events. I was shooting at a MotoGP years ago at Philip Island, and the Canon support team there had a replacement battery closure latch....which they replaced for free, of course. They also let me check out a 500/f4 for an afternoon.

Another point for consideration. I shot with my X-T2 for my last pro race for the year, and 11FPS was WAY more than enough frame rate to my meet needs. In point of fact, I shot about 3x more frames that I usually do with my Canon; and had to discard 2/3 of the images, not because they were soft, but because I don't need 10 shots of a car apexing a corner. Even with the 10+ FPS that current pro DSLR bodies provide, the fact of the matter is, most sports pros don't shoot that way at all; they shoot like a Navy Seal for the most part, 2-3 frames per subject/per shot, not 8 or 10 or 14. In the vast majority of situations, they only need one shot of an athlete, a racehorse, a race car doing something at any given instant, not 20. Their photo editor only needs one, too. They don't have to, and don't want to, shoot "spray and pray" style. I can see how amateurs need this approach to get a "keeper" but all they are doing is ending up with way more frames needed that have to culled and stored, and a lot more shutter actuations necessary to get the shot.

On the whole, it all adds up to a LOT more images than necessary and a LOT more actuations on the shutter. This doesn't get talked about much, but the shutter durability is one of the top requirements for a professional using pro bodes.

Ad 1) You would be surprised how much space the Hybrid Viewfinder takes up. Essentially the whole part left of the bayonet. But yeah, it sounds a bit lame...On the other hand it would be logical that Fuji regards the Pro2 to be more of a stills camera than anything else. It's a "Rangefinder style" camera after all...

Ad 2) I don't get your point. That's exactly the problem...with an articulating screen the X-Pro2 would be even bigger than it is now already. Although I wouldn't have minded. One reason why the X-Pro2 is bigger than the X-T2 is the complex, space-consuming viewfinder.

Ad 3) No clue. Maybe they only thought of that after the X-Pro2 came out. But honestly: Is that really such a sought after feature? I Never would charge my batteries in camera (and I got both, the X-Pro2 and the X-T2 (although I wish, I rather would have gotten a second X-T2 instead of the X-Pro2). The EVF got me hooked...(I skipped the X-T1 and got two X-T10s instead, so I was used to the smaller EVFs...but as soon as I had the X-T2...)

    Just ordered an x-Pro2.

    1. 4k, could not care less, not even a little bit
    2. tilt screen is nice to have, but not really for what I want this camera for.
    3. USB charging. I would rather have a double battery charger, so the camera can be used during the day, reloaded when I get back to the hotel, then head out again. The "Golden Hour" of late afternoon is not the time to be sitting in your hotel room waiting for a battery to charge !

I have had an X-T1 which was very competent, and now a second hand X-Pro1. I had an M7 years ago, shooting slides mostly, so not having a tilt screen or 4k is quite bearable really !

ViewMode reacted to AZWolf in Useful shortcuts and little known but important facts
    Hi All,

I thought I'd share a list of useful shortcuts and important considerations for the X-Pro2 I've compiled from personal experience and various resources (recommendations below.) As I'm new to using this forum I hope this isn't redundant and that it will save you all some time and perhaps prevent some aggravation.

Shortcuts- in order of importance and frequency of use for me but of course this will be different for each of usPush Trash button for 2 sec, then press rear command dial to bring up card formatting Rear command dial- While in AF or MF press briefly to get the magnified view. Pressing for a full second in MF mode toggles through the focus assist modes (standard, split, focus peaking.) This works whether you are in magnified view or full view. This also works for the Electronic Rangefinder (ERF) Battery life as a percentage by hitting Playback button, then up arrow OR just toggle through the displays using DISP/BACK button Press and hold DISP/BACK button until Fn customizing menu appears and you can make changesOR press and hold any of the individual Fn buttons to change the function for that button. Press the Q key to bring up the Quick menu. Now press the Q button again and hold for 2 seconds: This brings you to the set-up menu to configure your custom camera settings C1 through C7. Press and hold the Q key for 2 seconds while in shooting mode to configure the Quick menu itself. While in this mode you can navigate to any of the 16 positions (use joystick or controller keys) and select any of the 24 functions or NONE for that position (using the MENU/OK button or push in joystick.) If you don't need access to 16 positions/functions you make some of them blank using NONE to clean up your Q menu. Press and hold Menu/OK button for 3 sec to lock all 4 selector/Fn buttons and the Q button. I must admit I never use this one but have included it in case someone out there sees a viable use for it. Important but not obvious:If DR is engaged (that is set to DR200, Auto, or DR400) your minimum Auto ISO won't go below ISO 400 or ISO 800 respectively, even if you've set the minimum for 200. I leave DR off for the most part because I primarily use Raw. If you use DR-AUTO mode, the X-Pro2 will choose between DR100 or DR200 but not DR400. If Face and/or eye detect is on, you can’t lock the AF. You also cannot change metering patterns. This makes no sense at all and I was hoping Fuji would change this when they came out with the 2.0 firmware update but no such luck. Maybe if we all request it, it will happen. One workaround is to assign Face/eye detect to a Fn button so you can quickly change it if you want to us AF-L or switch to spot metering. In addition to figuring some of this out on my own I have used several other resources. A couple of these stand out and I would highly recommend them: 1. Adam Bonn's X-Pro Series Content (not to mention the rest of his blog/site as well as his many poignant posts on this forum) 2. Rico Pfirstinger's X-pert tips- right now you can get 40% off his e-book via the link pinned at the top of this (Fuji X-Pro1/X-Pro2) forum.

    Cheers,
    Joel

Good to see a fresh review of the Mitakon 35mmF0.95 with great sample photos (which are rare for this lens).

While I don't own a Fujifilm 56mm f/1.2, I have shot with one for a while and I don't really have any complaints about its sharpness.

    This is a full-size 16 MP OOC JPEG shot with X-T1 and 56mm at f/1.2: http://photo.torba.com/images/pavel.urusov/f/gI5QLQoLCnsuemLMrod5.jpg

As you can see, it's sharp. Maybe even too sharp because it shows all the pores etc.
This one was also shot at f/1.2 and converted in Lightroom, and it's extremely sharp: http://photo.torba.com/images/pavel.urusov/f/e5rz4Eayund6m2g7Udyc.jpg

I think you have a misfocusing issue. The eyebrow in your shots looks sharper than the eye itself.

    Hi All,

Coming from the film age and being an avid Leica (and other rangefinders) user over the years I decided to write an article on how Fuji might be my new Leica and where my Sony A7R II and Zeiss glass fit into all of this.

Everyone complaining about this lens being too expensive doesn't realize that it'll be at least $200 off in a few months, just like every other Fuji lens...

This will be a perfect compliment to the 23 f/2.

I already have the 35 f/2 and the 50 f/2 is probably too close in focal lenght to be worth it. So would I would want is a perfect compliment to the 35 f/2.
A small wideangle WR lens. Yes there's the 18 and 16 but the 18 f/2 is small, but not WR, the 16 f/1.4 is WR but not small.

    And to be extra greedy a 70 f/2 as AceFlibble mentioned. 18 f/2 WR + 35 f/2 WR + 75 f/2 WR. Perfect trio.
