  1. The advice I was given on this thread was superb. Try the settings posted on the camera menu and enjoy testing! Personally I maxed the ISO at 3200 Used my 35mm f2 recently on a quick shoot and quietly impressed Everyday a schoolday and look forward to tomorrow!
  2. I shoot raw+fine as well, this weekends task will be to look at the raw images in Lightroom Thank you all for your advice
  3. I'd love the excuse for the 56mm f1.2 but having just bought the XT1, 35mm f2 and 18mm f2 I don't think the accountant (the Mrs!) would release the funds!
  4. Thanks for the replies. I will try with some limits and see what the difference is I looked at the 35mm f1.4 but the price I paid for the f2 was too good to miss.
  5. Hi forum Some help and advice please Shot with a few DSLRs for last few years, Nikons then Canons and had my XT1 for around a month. totally different camera and controls to the DSLR but pretty pleased with results so far. Last weekend was my cousins wedding and went prepared to take some nice family shots, bride, groom etc and took about 100 pics Mostly had ISO and shutter on auto with 35mm f2 Fuji lens, altered f stop a few clicks depending on shot but found that 60% of shots were blurred, looking at info, slow shutter speed. With DSLR on auto, I would get a get a good pic but on the XT1, if I speed up the shutter, the shot was dark. The wedding was 2pm and light good. Could any members offer advice or at least point me in the direction of a good link/book to aid my learning please? Thank you in advance
  6. I have 2 very cheap and cheerful bags which I use regularly.. Dorr motion system photo bag - holds my XT1 with 16-50 lens, hood reversed, and 35mm f2 or 18mm f2 and 2 batteries Ultra cheap canvas shoulder bag, satchel type with padded compartments which holds xt1, 4 lenses, 3 batteries, 2 chargers and usual bits Now looking to buy a nice shoulder/satchel/messenger type bag which fits the class of the XT-1, some very nice bags on this thread
  7. I am new here too since buying an XT1 and asked similar advice. I bought a Pentax takumar 50mm lens and a Pentax to x mount adapter. Manual focus but a lovely lens and £48 with adapter. I have also got the Fuji 16-50mm lens and it's a great all round lens, nice and sharp, auto focus and produced some nice pics in the limited use its had so far
  8. Thank you for the help, not in any rush and will keep an eye here
  9. Since my last post I have received the Fuji 16-50 lens and only taken a few photos but a nice lens. Looking forward to grabbing an hour at the weekend to take a few snaps and look at proper daylight shots. Looking at lenses for the future i have borrowed the 16-55 f2.8 from a colleague and very nice..possibly one day also seen the 56mm f1.2 but £1159!! Wow!
  10. The Pentax 50mm arrived and taken a few photos.... Learning the art of manual focus but for £30 I'm very pleased! Only used the XT1 for a few days and still got to get the settings refined but a lovely camera, image quality superb!
  11. Thanks for the replies and advice, all posts very welcomed ! To get me going on a budget, I've just purchased a Pentax f1.7 smd 50mm manual lens and fuji adaptor Hopefully receive the fuji 18-55 before Christmas and looking forward to the learning curve!
  12. Thanks for the advice. The Fuji 35 F2 I looked at when I bought the body, may end up with one eventually but not yet. The canon 50 needs power even in MF setting, on the Fuji the focus ring turns but doesn't focus the lens. I think in the short term I'll pick up a cheap manual lens to get me going
  13. Hi all, New here and looking for members advice Recently switched from a Canon 1300d to an XT-1 body, no lens as yet but an xc18-55 on its way from a colleague. On my canon I had a 50mm f1.8 prime lens which I love, I have a canon ef to Fuji adaptor but the lens needs power for focus. Could you recommend a lens on a budget or a manual lens I can use with the adaptor to get me going? Loads of stuff on eBay but like to hear from members. I will be looking to get a Fuji lens later in the new year Any advice welcomed
