  1. I know, but sometimes it seems from my friend's fb postings and emails that it's often raining there - a lot more than it does in Texas. Then again, watching some of the "extras" from the Poldark series I saw that the weather didn't cooperate during filming; it was too nice and sunny! I just worry about worst case scenarios.
  2. Thanks for the replies. I've been considering everything y'all posted and think I'll stick with the 18-55mm since I like the idea of carrying something lighter, and I have no desire to go out in a pouring rain to see the sights or photograph anything (I'm more a "sit in the pub and get to know people" type on rainy days). I guess I was a little wary of the weather since the only time I've been to London was ten years ago when I was stranded there by fog on my way to Germany.
  3. Thank you, Pathpix, for asking this. And thank you, gordonrussell76, for a thorough answer. I was wondering this myself since I didn't really get into post processing when I dipped my toe into the world of digital photography several years ago (Photoshop confused me!).
  4. I own the 18-55mm. I'm just wondering if I should spend the money to buy the 16-55mm.
  5. I'll be going to England (Cornwall & London) next May. I know the weather there can be unpredictable. I don't plan to be out in a downpour, but I don't want to let a little drizzle or sand stop me. I have an XT1 body. Will the 18-55mm be okay? Or should I consider the 16-55mm, just in case?
  6. XT1 and XT10. XT10 + 27mm is my everyday carry choice - it goes everywhere with me.
  7. I agree with Hermelin. I have both and prefer how the XT1 feels in my hands. My thumb constantly pushes the function buttons on the back of the XT10, and I must lock them.
  8. Have you looked at the Ona Roma? I use this in my large purse when I carry my XT1 / 35mm f/2, and it still has room for another lens, a bottle of water, etc.
  9. Hi everyone! I've loved photography since I was about 10 years old, when my parents bought me an Instamatic. I eventually took photography classes in junior high and high school and inherited my dad's Canon Pellix. When my beloved Pellix drowned in a house flood (my husband had put all my photography equipment, negatives, prints, etc. on the ground ), I bought the Canon DSLR I could afford - a Rebel XTi. For a number of reasons, I never "bonded" with my XTi (mainly having to go through too many menus to do simple things) and I lost interest in photography - especially digital photography. A few months ago, I heard a presentation by a National Geographic photographer about why she chose to take the Fuji X-T1 with her on vacation instead of her full Nikon kit. That presentation convinced me to give Fuji mirrorless a chance. I bought my camera on sale along with a 35mm lens, and have loved it since Day One! I love how light it is, and that I can photograph in manual mode easily (LOVE the ISO dial!). Now that I'm hooked on the Fuji system, I've decided to sell all of my Canon gear to buy another lens for my new camera.
