  1. While I was waiting on LR to support the X-T3 RAW files I did a trial of Capture One Pro Fujifilm... some comparison renders and thoughts on my site..

It was worth the time to learn the basics and render a few Fuji RAWs... Capture One Pro is a seriously good application for Fuji IMO

  2. While I was waiting I decided to trial Capture One Pro... I wrote a brief article with some example images (processed in Lightroom and Capture One Pro)
Adobe might be supporting the X-T3 but I don't think that they will ever address the sharpening issues they have with X Trans sensors...

  3. I afraid to say that I'm a bit of a die hard LR fan.. but never been 100% happy with the sharpening on X-Trans Files... aka WORMS! :)

I'm not keen on shifting to a new solution but while waiting for LR to support X-T3 RAW files I have been using a trial of Capture One FujiFilm.. I must say that I've been impressed. I can see why people like this application... the highlight and shadow sliders alone demonstrate the power and advantage of Fuji RAW... I'm certainly considering at least continuing with the Fuji Express version.

I'll likely retain LR for a while and maybe shift wholesale over at some point in the future.. especially as the Phase One and Fuji relationship grows... Fuji Film Simulation Profiles will be another strong selling point when they arrive..

  4. I agree.. the manual updates are a little obtuse.. :)

I experimented with the feature and good some acceptable results (Landscape Photograph) see my brief post for detail http://www.mostly.photos/blog/2018/5/13/fuji-x-t2-firmware-40-focus-stacking-example-landscape

This said, Fuji recently pulled the release and have recommended installing the 4.1 (rollback) release for the time being. They are addressing bugs so I don't expect a revision to the focus stacking feature but it would be nice to see it improved

  5. I'm not aware of a way to delete them simultaneously.  And, IMHO you shouldn't be deleting images on the camera anyway as that "could" cause data corruption on the card.   Just my two cents.

I'd also avoid deleting individual photos but I wonder if there is a key combination like there is with format.

  6. @mcdesign - Thank you for the kind comments. I have a Samyang Fisheye that I might experiment with in the future. I live in London, UK and will struggle to find some dark skies... but hopefully I will get a chance soon to try again with the Milky Way... it's a fascinating subject.

  7. The XT2 looks excellent for this sort of night photography, I am using the XT1 with a Samyang 12mm f2 lens with exposures of 30s or less at ISO 2500, our skies are darker here in Australia so the Milky Way really stands out well. Try using the clarity slider in Lightroom to bring out more detail in the sky, I find it very useful.

That's a beautiful shot. We do struggle with the light pollution in the UK... I was also on location a little early.. I think the light was improving (getting darker!) all the time. I swapped out the 16mm for my wide 10-24 but as that is f4 max aperture it struggled more... but the Milky Way seems clearer...  mostly-photos-25_05_2017-X-T2-0001.jpg?f

  8. Hi,

I moved to Fuji from Nikon (D800) - The X-T2 is very capable and robust for all weather use. As noted in the thread the 55-200 is excellent but not weather sealed.

I use the excellent (super-kit) 18-135mm which is fairly lightweight for the focal range and is a very versatile option. Step up a class to the 50-140 f2.8 if you want tough weather sealed pro glass.

If your wife is keen on Landscape she might consider the 16-55 ... but for weight and portability I personally have shifted to Primes specifically the 14 or 16mm... the 16mm f1.4 is an excellent lens in every way.

  9. I'm used to using Zooms from my life with a Nikon D800 but now I am in the Fuji camp I have found that I am slowly shifting to using Primes. I have the 10-24 (after I sold the 14mm) but I don't use it that much... I will see how valuable it is on an upcoming trip and consider selling.

    The 14mm is great.
