  1. This past Sunday, I recorded 4K / 30P with three Fuji W126s batteries, using gripped X-T2, tripod mounted using 18-55 lens, OIS off, indoors. Had the grip in boost mode. LCD was tilted down. Ran it continuously until about the 30 minute max record time, then re-started recording. Then, when first battery was consumed at around 55 minute mark, had to re-start recording again. 30 minutes max recording limit later, re-start. Second battery out 20 minutes later. So far, we're at 1 hour 45 minutes of recorded footage with three re-starts. The overheat temperature icon showed up a few minutes before the second battery went out, but the X-T2 kept recording. Decided to turn off boost mode. Don't know if that helped or not. With about five minutes left in the event, the camera shut down from overheating. Total record time was just under 2 hours. Third battery was not depleted. I had a second camera, the X-T20, so no issues missing the rest of the event (The X-T20 was the B-roll cam so was not recording continuously). Will have to watch the Zed ProMaster video to see if he had any settings I need to use to get another 60 minutes and reach his 2 hours 44 minutes. Or, could it simply be he was in a conditioned space (in Canada right?), while I'm on Maui, in August. I wish there was a way to definitively know if a motherboard replacement is needed or not. My one year warranty will be up towards the end of October. thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and helping those of us who use the video features of the X-T2. I love the footage, by the way.
  2. thanks for the VLC suggestions, although I'm travelling at the moment. I'll be sure to give it a try upon when I return home. With the Christmas season coming up quickly, I'll also be on the look out for any computer deals.
  3. Thanks everyone. None of our stores in Hawaii have either one, which is not surprising. A few stores have the WD in stock in the SF area, so I'll be sure to check it out in person during our trip. Thanks again. If I get any shots worth posting, I'll be sure to upload.
  4. Hi. I have an upcoming trip to the San Francisco area. We have our iPad Air version 1, but no laptop. While it's easy to offload to the iPad using the SD card to lighting adapter, I'm hoping to find a solution to offload directly to a portable storage device without being connected to a laptop or PC. I'll be setting up my X-T2 to record RAW to card slot 1 and jpeg to card slot 2, thinking offload RAW to the portable storage device and jpeg to the iPad. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  5. thanks for the replies. appears my Mac could be the issue. I was able to playback an x-t2 video at my workplace windows pc. my mac dates back to 2008, running Lion. Not sure what version Quicktime I have at this point. I haven't done any paying gigs for several years, but the enthusiasm on the x-t2 and the industry as a whole has gotten me anxious to upgrade my gear, even if just for personal projects and travel. I've been holding off on a mac replacement while waiting for late week's announcements on the mbp laptops. Will have to make a purchase decision soon. peace.
  6. Received my X-T2 this past weekend. I was able to download and view photos onto my Mac desktop, as well as my iPad and iPhone, but no editing just yet. For videos, the files copied fine on all three devices, but when trying to playback, I got messages that the file format is not supported. I shot both 4K and full HD. Tried to open with Quicktime on the Mac. For the iOS devices, I pressed the play icon on the video clip within the Photos app, and got the same message. Do I need to do some transcoding first to another format? Eventually, I'll be using Final Cut Pro 7 for now, with plans to upgrade to FCP X by year end. Thanks in advance for any suggestions/recommendations.
  7. the shots where you used the 56 f1.2 made me realize that it can be used for more than portraits - nice.
  8. please share your "once the AF-L button is set up" method. thank you.
  9. Hi. Just received a new X-T10 for my wife and we had a lot of fun taking numerous test shots last night. It didn't seem to matter which lens we were using (18-55 kit, 27 f2.8) but every once in awhile the focus frame selection screen would pop up. My initial reaction was that we pressed a button by mistake, so browsing thru the manual, found that the button below the Menu/OK activates the focus frame selection screen. So, we both tried avoiding it while adjusting our grip, but the screen would still pop up (not all the time though). Once we made a selection, we can proceed with no problems. Would this screen pop up on its own like that, and if so, for what reason? I'll be doing a firmware update later as I noticed it's still on firmware version 1.10. thanks for any feedback.
  10. Hello. As you might guess, I live on Maui and my name is Mike. Been using a Canon system since the 30D about 10 years ago; still have a 5D3 with the 24-70L II, 70-200L f4 IS, and 100 2.8L macro. However, since exiting the wedding business as a weekend warrior, my photography and video is more about travel and hiking with my wife, and family vacations and gatherings. I've sold my other Canon gear rather than having it just sit around. So, here we are on this site, which truthfully I didn't expect as I was literally a click away from ordering a milc by a different brand. It stayed in the cart for a few weeks, when by chance I happened upon an X-T2 YouTube clip on one of the photography channels I follow. After that first X-T2 clip finished, as some of you know, YouTube will list similar clips. The more I watched, the more I became interested. To cut to the chase, I rely heavily on websites like this for purchasing decisions, as the handful of stores here with cameras only stock consumer level gear (and even that is slowly disappearing). I've purchased all my Canon gear unseen, so it's nothing new to me, especially since the online stores I purchase from all have full refund return policies. I appreciate what I've seen on this website and will continue to peruse the various forums here, especially the X-T2 and the lenses. I'll also look for something for my wife, as she is interested in moving up from her smartphone when we're hiking. Lastly, I'm undecided on what to do with my remaining Canon gear. Certainly selling will help with funding, but we'll see as I do have requests once in awhile for outdoor portraits. thank you.
