    Good morning,

Africa Safari requires long lens - my present set up is Fuji X Pro 2 with 100 - 400 lens and then 2 times converter when taking small birds

    then a 27mm lens for the XPro2
Panasonic DMC LX5 for landscapes etc.
Very careful about changing lens in the great dusty outdoors

However if I want to carry a second interchangeable lens camera will take the X E2s with the 18 to 55 zoom then no lens changes are needed

Went for a couple of years with the X S1 which was a great solution
My route from XS1 to the ZOOM 100 to 400 passed through the XC 50 to 230 which I did not regret

Will be off to the Pearl of Africa in a month or so to get away from the English Winter
Bird watching is amazing at Entebbe

Hope you find your optimum solution

Taking the photo and having the experience is for me more important than the photo!

    David

I had to add this one that I took today.  It is in front of a artwork by Anish Kapoor at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA.

That's me with my Fuji X100F.

The fisheye has massive limitations - it can make things look weird, especially if there are lots of straight lines involved and you point the lens straight at it. I sold my previous fisheye because I got bored with the bendy-lines effect very quickly, but I've since bought another and I think I'm beginning to work out how to use it

First walk with my new Walimex (Samyang) 8mm F2.8. It will probably not get used very often but I like it.

    Just to summarize.
There are at least three totally different adapter types on the market, to adapt Nikon F mount lens:

1 - "simple metal ring", allows to attach any Nikon F glass to Fuji X mount. Limitation - can't control aperture on Nikon lens that have no aperture ring.

2 - "metal ring with aperture control", similar to type 1, but has ring that connects to Nikon aperture lever, and can close/open aperture even on Nikon "G" lens.

3 - "metal helicoid with(or without) aperture ring", similar to type 1 or 2, but has separate focus ring that allows to extend adapter length. It's good choice for extending macro distance of any Nikon F lens to very close. Another benefit - adapter focus ring can be used instead of lens focus ring, which is much more convenient due to closer ring location to Fuji camera body.

I personally use combination of Nikon F > Leica M adapter + Leica M > Fuji X. It has a bit slimmer look, and provides flexibility of using Nikon / Leica mount lens.

NOTE: usually more expensive brand adapter are made with better precision standards, so mounted lens will not play on camera and focus distance will be precise. However I personally buy cheap adapters ($10 - $20), and just repeat that until receive good quality sample.

Agreed. It's not one of the 'core' lenses in any kit, but sometimes it comes in handy. None of these are corrected:

I am quite sure that, along with the movie version, the first version was also offered for SONY full frame cameras at one time and I am not talking of the 3,5 version which is a completely different lens but the first 2,8.

For those who did that it became necessary to remove the lens hood in a complex way.

As I understand, modification of the rear elements was especially targeted to improve performance in the corners to SONY FF users and leaves the APS-C users almost unaffected.

“......The Samyang 8mm/2.8 UMC II fisheye lens is available for several camera mounts (Canon M, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX and Sony E). It is designed as a full frame fisheye which covers 180° from corner to corner on these aforementioned mounts with their respective sensor sizes. But since the introduction of the Sony cameras with E-mount and full frame sensor there is an interesting new option for panoramic photographers.
In all the featured examples of this post I just took a picture of a white piece of paper bended around the lens which I converted to a black and white image afterwards. If you mount the lens in its original state on a Sony ILCE-7 (or ILCE-7r) then you get an image which looks something like this...."

The 8mm f/2.8 lenses (both I and II) are made for APS-C sensors in mirrorless camera bodies, see here. I don't know what the difference between the 8mm f/2.8 I and II is, but I don't think it has to do with larger sensors.

P.S.: Ian Norman from Lonelyspeck says v2 is a little bit bigger but sharper in the corners: http://www.lonelyspeck.com/rokinon-8mm-f2-8-umc-fisheye-ii-review/ (it's down in the comments somewhere). And you should probably be careful, while searching for differences between v1 and v2 I found a lot of messages about decentered samples and issues where center and corners could not be focused at infinity at the same time.

yes, you can also buy version 1 because the improvement of version II is mostly directed to other cameras with lager sensors.

Fisheye is great tool for creativeness.
I like to make funny cityscapes with it. Here are old houses in Porto:
