I just got the X-T2 18-55 kit from B&H about a week ago. I just wanted to know what other people wouldve chosen, because I admit I had thought of the other option. But seeing as I plan on using this camera as a primary, I know I made the right choice. I'm just inpatient in general, and especially when it comes to getting other gear for my setup. I'm planning on getting some extra batteries and the grip, a couple more quick 128gb+ cards, and then I'll worry about glass. Seeing as how buying just the XT2 18-55 kit completely drained my budget. I've had  PS+LR, a bag, tripod, etc.

I recently had the opportunity to visit a remote South facing beach in Wales, UK - I thought I'd try and capture the Milky Way with my X-T2 and 16mm f1.4

I wrote a brief article with further images and information on how I took the shot

I think both cameras are very similar and you would get same IQ in most of the situations. I would suggest you check what are the differences in terms of features between both. If you are sure you will never need / miss any of them, then go with T20. If however you are not sure and you think what T2 offers over T20 is valuable and nice to have down the road then you should go with T2. If you are starting with the Fuji ecosystem, over time you will be investing in lenses anyway. However, if you have no short term plans to buy a second body, you will be "stuck" with whatever you buy first. At least for a while.
That is what I would do.
A month ago I went with T2 kit (+ XF 18-55). Like Elisha I try to spend as much as I can, for what I would need to start, in the beginning. I added XF 55-200 and battery grip.
    Good luck

Just joined the forum although I've been a Fujifilm shooter for nearly 4 years and interested in photography since around 1970. Retired and living in NYC (lifelong New Yorker) and mostly interested in nature photography. Currently shooting with an X-Pro2, X-E2 and X-30.

    No, I traded it in. Completely switched systems. Ended up getting x-t2, 16mm f/1.4, 23mm/1.4, 35mm /1.4, kit lens 18-55 2.8-4, Samyang 50mm /1.2, grip.

Loving it so far. Wouldn't go back if you paid me. Used it in studio, on location, with family.

frankinfuji got a reaction from Bijanfotografy in X-E1, is it still worth it?
With the possible exception of auto-focus, which you may not need, and the better viewfinder on the newer X-Series, I think the X-E1 is still a very good performer.

I have an X-E2, but still use my older X-M1 (which has the same sensor and internals as the X-E1) as I prefer the jpegs from the older sensor.

I think I really only miss my X-E2 when trying to use auto focus in low light, or when I need to use a viewfinder.  (But I miss my X-M1 when I need a tilting screen or want a more compact camera!)

But compare prices of a good used X-E2 to an X-E1 - as the X-E2 with the latest firmware is the equivalent of the current X-E2S model.

And if you don't use a viewfinder much - look at new X-M1 - they can be found for around $350, with the XC zoom lens.

but then how to explain if people notice an improvement at shutter speeds around 1/250 compared to images shot at longer shutter speeds?

If the aperture stays the same and results are improved by the shutter speed the conclusion has to be that that is a factor in “ sharpness"

A few bits of advice ...
    - Search the numerous threads on the forums here the general take away is that lightroom ACR has improved significantly but does not handle fine green detail anywhere near the level of detail as Iridient or Capture One.
    - Forget THAT petapixel article suggesting that it is an inherent issue with XTrans. It's not. There was a thread here a while back referencing PHD research demonstrating that a PR 6X6 color filter array can perceptively out resolve bayer at the same megapixel count. This bears out with experience from other raw converters - unfortunately it sounds like you are seeing issues with LR.
    - For threads such as this, samples really help isolate the problem and focus the advise given, please can you provide some samples including Exif information.
-Is this noticeable in print? I find that people complain of worms on XTrans at 3:1 zoom levels or dinner plate blotches at 3:1 on bayer, but pragmatically how is your image intended to be viewed .... 2mp screen, 8mp 4k screen? A3+ (13 X 19) or larger and on what medium...

Yesterday I was shopping in Chengdu China with my wife and walked into a giant camera store - much to my surprise there was a A9 demo event. Despite not knowing anything being said from the Sony rep, everyone in the audience, or even being able to decipher the menus - it was awesome. The body improvements make it really feel good, more chunk in the grip, better control layout - and jeezus its fast. 20fps is not my thing, but the A9 is a beast. AF and tracking are next level for mirrorless - much better than anything I've seen from the EM1.2, A6500, A7rII or my twin XT2's.

Everyone in attendance shot stills, so when the rep reviewed images on a big 4k tv, I didn't see any video. If I had a spare card I would have shot some stills and tried to shoot video - they were letting people take away images. Very cool though as this was the first time I've seen a camera pre-release like this.

Funny side note - a guy was pairing the A9 with his phone to download images and he knocked over a cup of water sitting on the counter next to the camera and it splashed the A9 body and a a6500/18-110 cine lens combo sitting on the counter next to the A9. A shop staffer gave him major stink eye as he wiped water off the everything, but the weather sealing did its job, haha.

I'm traveling the world for a year with a XT2 kit after switching from the A7rII mainly because of the speed and lenses. If the lower models get many of the improvements sans the crazy FPS, I'll be really tempted to head back to Sony. They've fixed everything I hated about my A7rII.
