Going to play the devil's advocate here for a moment, but my 335 Billingham has served for close of a decade now, you can see that it has seen much better days, but that bag is a trooper, it still a good bag whenever I need to mule around FF bodies and lenses and the zipper are still in pristine conditions.

Billingham bags are super expensive but they will stand the trials of time and come out victorious while others will have replaced several parts already.
I have often considered getting myself a Hadley Pro but the usage I would have of it does not justify its price. The 335 was a self gift for when I started this whole thing and I am glad that I did.

Or do the lens swap in a bag that carries your lens, plenty of tricks to use. Or even better, teach you lil' one how to use a camera and what can or can not be touched.

That's what I did with my 6 years old son, I started by teach him how to hold a camera and how to take pictures, about 6 months later, I got him an old Nikon 1 V1 with Nikkor 1 10mm F2.8 lens. He nows enjoys his own camera, can shot decently something in the frame, knows basic composition (ie. placing ppl where he wants them to be), can do short films and most of all, learned that he can move around to get the picture he wants because of the fixed lens.

Lenses are needed for any camera to work, the size of it is of course fully detrimental to the whole system's size.

If I am to buy the XF 23 F1.4 lens, should I complain about its size ? No, that lens is the size it needs to be for an F1.4 aperture, no matter what, you still can not bend the law of physics, the Nikkor 24-70 VR lens is doing a good job at showing that example, the non VR lens was already big, the VR version is just got larger because of the extra space needed for the stabilisation to work.

Want smaller lenses ? Go to an even smaller system, m4/3 is also a very good balance of size/weight even in the lenses department, but again, F2.8 zooms are going to be large on it, it's the same thing repeating itself all over the place and the general pro-sumer market can not, or will not understand.
The Nikon 1 system is another good example, I can have the heaviest of any Nikon 1 body, with 3 lenses, that covers wide angle with super zoom and "nifty fifty" all this for roughly the weight of a Nikon D800 body only. But in exchange, my IQ is taking a dip to counter balance the gain in size/weight.

There will always be a trade-off somewhere, until someone figure out a way to bend our laws of physics, thing will remain as they are. In the end, buy whatever makes you feel good and don't bother too much with what happens to the sides.

It's just a tool after all.

I have a M42 Super Takumar 105 mm F2.8 with a focal reducer, it is tighter than a 85mm but I rather like it. Do be careful, it can be soft wide open, but I just love the bokeh of it so there is a choice to make about it when you are taking your shot.

When traveling, I carry around some of those easy to use cleaning sticks that comes with pre-hydrated swabs and use them only when I really have to.
Otherwise I just go to my regular shop and have them do it for me.

If things mess up, at least I didn't do it and the shop have insurance for these kind of incidents.

If you want to go ultra wide it is very hard to beat the 10-24 F4 at the moment, great lens, and the OIS is just pure gold, allows around 4 stops of stabilization. I have taken shots at 1/15 of a sec hand held and the picture still came out sharp.

As for the 18-135, it's ,my personal, most used lens. I travel a lot to places where changing lenses is very inconvenient, thus that super zoom lens is about my best friend, the WR and 5 stops OIS makes it very easy to use even on the longest range.
If I compare it to any other of my Fuji lenses, it's about the worst IQ (10-24, 27, 35 F1.4/F2 and 60) among them, but I still use it the most often because of the practicality of it.
But as Nero said, there could be some QC issues on that lens, I have seen shots taken with it that makes me wonder if the guy is actually able to use a camera at all while others are perfectly fine with their lens. So your millage might vary.
Best advice, buy it from Mamazon, give it a try for 30 days, if all goes fine, keep it. If you have issues, send it back and ask for another one.

What about a non camera bag like the Fossil Wagner Mens City Bag ?

I posted that content over the favorite camera bag thread but I can repost it here for the sake of convenience, this what I am able to carry in the bag on regular basis:

    - X-T1 - 27mm F2.8 - 35mm F1.4 - 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 - 3 batteries + Traveler friendly charger with micro USB cable - Small 5200 mah powerbank for extra need of juices - BlackRapid Metro strap - A pocket WiFi (turns 3g into WiFi for non 3G devices) - Nexus 7 2013 ed. - Kindle Paperwhite - 30cm x 30cm micro fiber cleaning cloth - Lens cleaning kit (cloth, brush, small bottle of cleaning liquid) - Couple of pens - A small 20L foldable bag for just in case I would need to do groceries   I stole some inner padding from my Vanguard Uprise 33 bag at the bottom of the bag just in case it would fall on the bottom and used the Fuji cloth lens to avoid too much issues with the lenses bumping into each other in the bag while traveling.   As you can see, I can fit quite a lot in the bag that is more than enough for a day of trip. For the size, it's not that big at all, 25cm x 6 x 28cm.

One can also look at it another way... The reason I invested in Fuji is not that it is cheaper than FF, but that it is smaller while still providing exceptional image quality and having a more 'analog' shooting experience. My X-T1 with say the 23/1.4 is a joy to hold and use. I like having the aperture ring and real dials. I like the size and weight. I can carry an X-T1 plus the 16, 23 and 56 around all day and hardly notice the weight or bulk.

If the high end of the Fuji line of cameras all keep getting bigger and heavier, that will be more of a deterrent for me than a price increase.

btw, the X-T2 will have more than 4k, 8MP and the joystick.

It will also have faster AF and in general faster everything. The blackout time on the X-Pro2 is significantly shorter than the X-T1 (much closer to an SLR). Turning on is faster, waking from sleep is faster, etc. I'm expecting the X-T2 to equal or surpass the X-Pro2 in this regard. If it takes more cost to keep the camera small while increasing its overall speed and agility, so be it.

It's the rumor about a possible MF camera body, it kind of takes times for it to come into fruition.

The rumor about it could have come at any time of the development of it, usually it takes 1-2 years before a prototype is being made and maybe another year in testing. There is a very good probability that we won't be having any kind of announcement before Photokina this year, personally, I am not expecting anything before at least mid 2017.

I was at a wedding last week as second shooter, my SP1 printer was quite the attraction of a lot of the ppl around.

In a world more and more often digital, almost nobody print pictures anymore. Even my own wedding pictures are not printed in a book. So when you hand out something physical there is something really novel about it. It feels good to have something small and durable and you can just put up on your fridge as memorabilia.

I don't buy them on Amazon but from my local camera shop, it's basically a plastic bag with holes for the lens and it is transparent enough to use the LCD for composition and then let's pray that I put my focus point at the right place when taking the shot

Yeah, I basically hate using them... >.>

Umbrella + X-T1 and WR lens is good enough, anything more severe, I would rather consider taking my Nikon 1 AW1 with All Weather lenses with me instead of the Fuji, I lose some IQ but I can keep shooting and go underwater too.

Agreed here, except if you look outside of Canikon lenses, into Sigma for example, you have a DX format zoom th 18-35 F1.8, sure it's heavy as a truck and just as big, but F1.8 zoom ?! And they are going to release the 50-100 F1.8 version in late Q2 of this year.

With these zooms, you have "primes" quality bokeh wise and add the zoom practicality too boot.

I love my Fuji gear, but that's the kind of lens on a D500 that makes my head turn around a good deal...

Actually, it does not intrigue me at all... For a zoom, I would rather have the Fuji 50-140 2.8 with OIS than the Sigma 50-100 1.8 - I can shoot the 50-140 @ 1/30 and even 1/15 which makes it much better handheld in low light than the Sigma. The 50-140 OIS is remarkable, and it has more reach. The Sigma is a pretty narrow zoom range. With the Fuji 56 and 90 primes on 2 bodies I've basically equaled the zoom range and each feels so much lighter and more agile and comfortable to hold.

The D500 + the Sigma 50-100 is over 5 Lbs.
The Fuji X-T1 + the 90 is under 2 Lbs.

That is a huge difference in handling. I could comfortably shoot the X-T1 + 90 one handed or on the run all day.

And of course I'm simply expressing my interests and preferences and you are free to have your own :-)
