  1. Have tried the 100-400 & am still undecided as to whether I purchase or not. As luggage weight is not a problem I may well take Canon 5DIII & Sigma 150-600 & hire a Fuji 100-400 for 2 weeks.. Cost will be about $220 & I will have all bases covered + back ups. Weight is still far far less than taking a 5D111, 1DIII,500 f4 & 100-400,16-35 & 24-70.
  2. Thanks for the replies. Will bear in mind your airline comments especially as I always book extra leg room. 6'6" does not easily fit into normal seating. Fortunately I'm an "athletic" build so width is not so much a problem. However I find seats give no head support being so low at the back-relatively speaking of course. I have booked a 100-400 for the day for this coming Monday so will find a quiet reserve with plenty of birds and do a comparison. If I had all Fuji gear I would take 2x XT2,100-400 & 18-55/55-200, Along for the ride 10-24 & 35 f1.4.
  3. For what you shoot Fuji is great. My reservations are with birding & competing with long leles. My thoughts on buying a 56 have now been put on hold until after further thought & more trials.
  4. Off to Kruger NP on May/June of this year & wondering how Fuji gear -XT2 + 100-400 has performed for Fuji users compared with Canon fit long teles. My dilemma is whether to buy the 100-400 for a Fuji only kit or go with 150-600 Sigma & 5DIII + XT2 + 18-55. I have read in many places that the 100-400 is not quite as good as the Canon set up which is why I have not taken the plunge on the Fuji lens before now. Flying South African Airways so don't know how strict they are with carry on weights. In previous birding travels to Asia & Europe going over carry on weights has never been a problem. There is also an internal flight from Jo'berg to Nelspruit.
  5. Just returned from a month in Europe (UK & Prague) & I live in Western Australia so Prague was very cold & London positively mediterranean in comparison. My cameras have worked without problems in temps of -5C (not Alaska cold) to +40C without problems other than the lens misting over on the outside immediately on leaving the warmth of the hotel.
  6. Certainly looks as though it will perform & it has been said that this is possibly Fuji's best X series lens to date. https://jonasraskphotography.com/2017/09/07/fujifilm-xf-80mm-f2-8-macro-review-closer-to-completion/ However I am perfectly happy with my 100mm f2.8 macro & 65 MPE- considered by many to be the ultimate specialist macro lens. At its price I cannot see any reason to dispose of my Canon gear. I use my 5DIII for macro & birds (on Sigma 150-600) & for all else & travel my 2x XT2s.
  7. XT2s are great cameras. I have kept an XT10, all my Canon gear & purchased 2 T2s. Kids inheritance not my money. Never been a fan of Sony or Olympus. In over 40 years of photography only used 3 systems Contax RTS & Zeiss lenses in the film era, Canon & Fuji in the digital age. These have met most of my needs & wants both professionally & as a hobbyist. Have considered a change but never enjoyed the test drives for one reason or another. Better the devil..........
  8. XT2. However I shall see what the 5DIV is like before committing to 2 of them. Depends on video capability. Have a couple of weddings to do as favours so am in no hurry to dispose of my Canon gear. I have much more gear in retirement than I need so decisions have to be made.
  9. I recently purchased my second XT10 prior to the announcement of the XT2 for $500 after cashbacks & GST refund. Hard to justify an XT2 at almost 5 times the cost as the XT10s served me very well over a 6 week trip to UK & Italy. If I go down the XT2 road I shall purchase 2,however, I await more information on the pricing of the 5DmkIV before committing. Compared to the XT10s the Canon could well be the better value. We shall see. PS> I think I now have my answer. It appears the 5DmkIV is going to be around $3500US or $4600AU. XT2 is looking good.
  10. Why I have Fuji as my travel kit. I can take 2 bodies & 4 lenses & still be way(or weigh) under the 7kg weight allowance. Love the 10 -24 & my other lenses. I now use my Canon gear for video & backyard birds as I have no reason to sell it. Rather keep it than take a big hit $$wise.
