merlin got a reaction from mdm in Winter Landscapes
Most of the green in the landscapes is from conifers. The deciduous trees and shrubs have not yet begun leafing out. But we had more snow and other moisture this winter than in the past 10 years! However, with the intense sunlight at 7000 feet of elevation it disappears fairly quickly.
That landscape was taken on equinox day, a few hours before the change of seasons. Here's another.

Yeah, not fair, is it. Merlin is so greedy, grabs all that sunshine for himself. But mdm tell me what phase are you in right now. I remember some time ago you said that you sometimes have too much of green 😀. If you are in a green-OK phase now, I have a lots-of-green batch that I want to start extra for you after we are done with the winter theme here, which I presume will be soon. But I am away for a week so you guys have to keep it alive till I come back.

The only green I've got these days is a rusty hand rail. So I'm in a phase called waiting for the sun.

I'd like to have the same kind of winter as you are Merlin and call the green sunny view "winter landscape". 😁

Good light, but sunshine is not necessary. These were taken yesterday with overcast skies.

Polarizers just help bring out what was already there. Merlin probably needs the sunshine for those fantastic lichen shots he shows us. If the literature I have read is half way correct, the ones he shows us are hundreds of years old. Amazing!
p.s. I have a few more winter shots as well.

Today is the last day of the calendar winter season (at the time of writing).
Spring is out there hinting around here and there that it is ready to take over ...
but I am not certain yet the winter season is completely gone.

merlin got a reaction from jerryy in Amongst the Soaring Cliffs Again!
After more than two-and-a-half months, we hiked off trail up to the rock cliffs in the Nature Preserve. It was a wondrous experience to be amongst the ancient trees, amazing rock formations, lichens, cacti, shrubs, and incredible vistas.
We wound up taking a more strenuous and exhausting route, being on the lookout for photographic opportunities, and the stillness, solitude, and magnificence of Nature was deeply moving.
