  1. I do have obsessive compulsive disorder and i gave my opinion based on my condition. If you don't have one, you can ignore my post.
  2. I would give 200$ extra not to think about whose oily greasy face was glued to the viewfinder.
  3. I think 56mm lens vs zoom is one of the factors. 56 is made for this kind of work (headshots). It is great specialized lens. If you look at her pictures taken with 35mm 0r 60mm, they just don't have that crisp look. Neither pictures with 90mm when whole body is in the frame. That lens is amazing when used properly. It looks to me that you did a little bit heavier jpg processing (be it in camera or in post production) vs careful nondestructive RAW conversion. Overall your picture is not bad. Also, lighting. It needs to be more contrasty, coming from steep angle to accentuate texture (in this case pores). I don't see a lot of D&B, some contrast is added in post, but it's mainly skillful lighting. There is some toning down and a bit of desaturation, to make colors subtle. I've never found frequency separation to make a big difference in overall results, like I've never seen this difference working 16Bit vs 8Bit files. But, it won't hurt either. after all, it's just an action to prepare an image for FS. Also, her light is controlled vs yours not being. You tried, but it's not. You added a reflector, or an additional flash in front low. Front light won't accentuate pores and lower angle will give horror like appearance. But, these are small details, your picture is good on it's own.
  4. I'm still using Canon for most of my commercial work and I have XE2 for fun. Great and very informative article. Thanks for writing it! It will surely help me make some decisions.
  5. The title of the topic is misleading. Not every use of Photoshop is so heavy like in the given examples. Photoshop doesn't have to mean unrealistic interpretation of reality, it can be quite the contrary - a tool to correct camera or photographer mistakes (color balance, contrast, dinamic range, leveling horizons etc). It is also a mistake to think that a straight out of camera image is more real. There is more "Photoshop" in jpg processing than in basic Raw conversion. No picture is real word. It is photographers subjective interpretation of real word, but that's not part of this discussion.
  6. I was thinking about number 1, too. It would be great to go from A to T quickly. The thing is, speed dial is a stone age concept. It so cumbersome to use on a fly. I don't use it. I use the rear dial for shutter speed. But, I like the speed dial and I don't want it removed from Fuji bodies, because it looks so cool !
  7. 5. Yes, you can use continuous light, even sun. In fact, that's how a flash works in HSS mode - pulsing light at a very high rate during exposure. Read this very informative article: http://wiki.pocketwizard.com/?title=Understanding_HyperSync_and_High_Speed_Sync I think Yongnuo 685 with YN622 contoller falls in your price range. But, be aware that a lot of flash power is lost in HSS mode, so maybe you'll end up needing a couple of flashes combined. There is another solution, and that's to buy Fujifilm x100 which doesn't have these limitations, since it uses leaf shutter built in the lens.
  8. Another thing that happened during this first week with XE2, caused by this EVF LCD shooting reviewing issue, is that I started to use LCD for shooting more and more. Very strange for a hard core DSLR user, but with XE2 it feels so natural. The LCD is great when cleaned up from all the symbols.
  9. My camera had 3.0 version. Now I updated it to 4.0 and I found out that there is an automatic review file option (0.5 or 1.5 sec). It is, more less, all I needed for review. Still only in EVF review if you are at EVF only, but helpful. What I only miss now is LCD display functionality for toggling through my settings, while on EVF only option. Doing that through EVF makes me feel like an idiot, I don't know why.
  10. Can you do that with X Pro2? I just found some sort of way around the problem. Instead of looking through a viewfinder to change EVF to LCD, I learned to change it "blindly" (I learned the combination of buttens I have to push without looking through viewfinder )
  11. Thank you very much for your help! I'm trying, need some time. At least, it's a great start up camera. If cons of XE2 are not present in Xpro 2, maybe I'll upgrade some day.
  12. I'm so dissapointed this option is not avaliable with XE2 (EVF shooting mode, LCD viewing mode). Yukosteel, is it avaliable with Xpro2, not only XT1? Every now and then I give a different mirrorless camera a try (first it was Olympus Pen, Sony, and now Fuji), and I always get dissapointed with the amount of experimentation and inconsistency in functionality. With a DSLR you always know what to expect. Whichever DSLR brand you choose, you don't even have to read a manual. It's so simple and straight forward. Why, why, why no EFV shooting- LCD viewing?!? And not only viewing, I can't change settings neither! I have to change settings loking through viewfinder. How you can possibly do that, have you tried it? So many good things about this camera, but again the same thing - no SLR experiance possible.
  13. Hi to all of you! I've just bought XE2 and I love it so far. But, trying to find a way around the problem of Eye sensor activating EVF just a little to late, I opted for EVF only option(EVF on all the time). But, I still want to check my just taken pictures on LCD, using Playback button(I'm a DSLR user used to do this).I'm surprised that LCD is off completely with this option, I can't even review my pictures. I thought it would be off only for Live view. Am I doing something wrong? Can this be changed it settings? Thank you!
