  1. Mmm... Very clunky (probably because of all the data transfers over a USB 2 connection); and the file manager in the App interface on the computer does not allow you to access mounted network shares, as far as I can see. This is a deal-breaker, as I import all camera files to a network drive via Lightroom. It means I have to transfer the files to a location that does appear in the App's file manager, and then work on them. Add to this the clunky data transfers over USB, and it seems more efficient to put the RAFs I want to convert on an SD card, and do the conversions 'in-camera'!
  2. Part of the wonderful 'image character' of X-Pro1 JPEGs is the very particular tonal characteristics of the X-Pro1. The image files have an unusually long tonal range in the shadow region. Here's DP Review's discussion of this, with evidence from tonal curve data: https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilm-x-pro1/20 Look at the tone diagrams under the first graph. Use the selectors above the graph to dispaly the curves for the other Fuji cameras available at the time of the review, and then look again at the tone diagrams below the graph: the X-Pro1 has a very long tail-off in the shadows - longer than the other Fuji cameras. I'm pretty certain this also applies to the newer Fujis. I think this is a major reason for the special X-Pro1 magic that you're missing. I find the 'richness' particularly noticeable in Monochrome images. (Try selecting 'Monochrome R' in the second graph (Film Modes); this is why the black and white images from the X-Pro1 are so wonderful.)
  3. I've just received a replacement X100F. It has firmware 1.01. Unsurprisingly, it has exactly the same focus-distance creep when using manual focus with the OVF as my previous camera. But I've discovered a sort of work-around, that may work for X-Pro2 users as well. Turn on the OVF focus preview (by pushing the viewfinder selector on the front of the camera to the left - towards the lense - to toggle the little 'EVF' rectangle at the bottom right of the OVF). When OVF focus preview is on, the focus distance stays exactly where you put it, with no sign of creeping up the scale when you press the shutter release. Clearly this problem is OVF-related. (It affects both of the recent versions of Fuji's OVF cameras when they're in OVF-only mode.) Let's hope the Fuji engineers get a firmware fix soon!
  4. I, too, have this problem on my X100F, which I returned to Fuji for repair. They replaced the lens and the main board to no avail, and are now saying this is a firmware issue. I understand that Fuji Japan knows about it, and is working on a fix, but there's no date for release yet. (I first noticed the issue with Firmware 1.00; the upgrade to 1.01 made it worse. Indeed, it seems that some cameras that were OK with Firmware 1.00 showed the problem when upgraded to 1.01!)
  5. Thanks for the info, Terry. I'd be interested to hear if you identify other factors. Thanks for this - I'll go and have a look.
  6. Thanks for this. I think you're right that this problem is far from universal, which makes you wonder what the parameters are. (Components from a particular batch? Assembly in a particular plant?) But I understand from Fuji Tech Support that the company is aware of the issue, and the Japanese engineers are working on a firmware fix. Let's hope Fuji gets the firmware update 1.02 out soon!
  7. Hi guys This issue happens only when using the OVF. Is that what you're doing when you see no issue?
  8. I recently got an X100F with the version 1.0 firmware, and set it up for the way I shoot street photographs: auto ISO; shutter 1/250s; aperture f/8; and manual focus distance set to hyperfocal distance - about 11feet (approx 3.4m). Using the OVF, the focus distance marker nudged upwards every time I either pressed or half-pressed the shutter release. (This is on MANUAL focus - so pressing the shutter release should not change the focus distance at all.) This only happened with the OVF: the focus distance indicator on the EVF and LCD stayed in the chosen position. I upgraded to latest firmware, and the problem is now even worse - in about five presses the distance indicator is nearly up to 15feet (about 4.5m)
