I went back (when will I ever learn not to fight with wonky websites!) and tried to add to my profile two items that are still within the warranty period (it already had a few items there, including the X-H1 that I registered on FujifilmXWorld last month, but not the 80mm macro that I first registered in January or my X100F that I'd registered late last year). At first it appeared to let me add these two items on the registration page and upload the pdf proof of purchase, but when I hit the green button to enter the new information I got the white screen. And, yes, the info hasn't been registered. I'm assuming this is because these items had already been registered on the old FujifilmXWorld site - but if it's stopping people register newly-bought gear, that's crazy.

In legal terms, though, I believe the warranty has to be honoured as long as one has valid proof of purchase to prove the gear is within the warranty period, irrespective of whether it has been registered on Fuji's website. It's not as if Fuji are offering anything over and above what the law already provides for.

dfaye, yes I agree, please note Connect is asking you to post a proof of purchase when you register an item!

Some of my gear was already there and I registered a few more but it won’t let me register my 1.4 & 2 TCs annoyingly it’s not telling me why!

I had a similar email (I'm also in the UK). Mine had a link in it to set a password for the new Connect site. I hit the link, set a password and - the screen went blank. It must be a glitch. I closed the screen, went to the main FujifilmConnect site and found that I had in fact been logged in. My profile page was pretty bare: they hadn't carried over any information except my name and the last few items I'd registered for warranty. I'm interested to hear, Mike G, that it won't allow you to register all your stuff - so I won't even try! I have, however, gone to the old FujifilmXWorld site and printed off my full equipment list for safekeeping before they close that down. It's useful to have all the purchase dates and serial numbers in one place. Let's hope that the new site does eventually turn out to be an improvement!

Even if you get Bluetooth connection, it really doesn't do anything other than send GPS data to the camera.  You cannot use Bluetooth independent of Wifi for camera control via the app, and you cannot transfer images via Bluetooth (you only mark them for transfer - the actual transfer happens via Wifi).  Auto transfer of images is not conveniently implemented, you actually lose control of the camera in some scenarios. I've played with it for quite a while and never had much success or see any value in it.  So I just turned Bluetooth off and left it off.

In the manual you'll find this at the top of the section on Bluetooth and Wireless connections:   "For more information on wireless connections, visit: http://fujifilm-dsc.com/wifi/"   When you go there you'll see that Bluetooth implementation is still dependent on working in conjunction with Wifi connection.

I will say that all my Fuji cameras (X-T1, T2, and now H-1) have worked flawlessly with the app and Wifi.   No problem at all and very reliable.  It makes me wonder why they even bothered with Bluetooth, unless the big deal was GPS info (which I don't care about).

Yes, WiFi connection does work but is a PITA to use as your phone loses it's cheaper Internet connectivity whilst using it!

it is called banding or flickering and its effects are very well know especially to those who shoot video.

Light sources which produce this effect are not necessarily limited only to fluorescent and the same can be observed with LED (most common also on stage) and many more light sources.

I agree entirely, Mike G. At the moment the only way to turn this "feature" off is to put the camera into Boost mode. This is fine on the X-T2, X-Pro2, X100F etc (which also share this "feature"), but leaving the X-H1 in Boost mode drains the battery very quickly indeed.

Interestingly, the feature is described (although rather vaguely) in the manual for the X-Pro2, which is where I first learned about it, but there is no mention whatsoever in the manuals for the X-T2 or X-H1. Not helpful, Fuji!

(Minor irritations aside, though, I'm loving the X-H1.)

An annoying feature of the new wonder machine is “Power Saving Mode” in that when using the LCD or EVF in normal mode after about 10-15 seconds of viewing but otherwise inactivity, the EVF and LCD go into power saving mode and the refresh rate is halved and the view becomes a bit jittery and jerky as the screens then struggle to keep the smoothness of the usual operation! Press a the shutter halfway or the back focus button and the smooth operation returns for a short while

Apparently this is a feature not a fault as Fuji UK support informed me! also this feature happens on the X-T2 as well, this phenomenon doesn’t happen in boost mode. Fuji UK promised to pass on my comments to Japan. I never noticed this on my X-T2!

Hopefully a firmware update will give the opportunity to switch this feature off.

I’ve had my X-H1 for a day or so now. All configured they way I like it. I’m very much enjoying this camera. Much better high ISO than my X-T2 (figure a firmware update will make them even again at some point). Grip is MUCH better than X-T2 - that was the only “take down” for me from going from dSLR to Fuji when I bought my X-T1 (large hands). EVF is very detailed and bright. With grip and boost mode there is zero lag/drag in the EVF.

And the IBIS is nothing short of excellent. Hand-holding the 16-55 @ 55mm down to 1/8th second is easily doable/repeatable with good camera holding technique.

The body feels more rigid/rugged. The grip fitment is more organic, following the lines of the camera much better than the “attached square brick” with the funny vertical “add on” of the X-T2 grip.

Shutter button improvement is very nice, indeed. Some complain that it is too soft... but I find it just about perfect. After about one minute using it, finding the half-press, vs the “shoot” press is quite easily dialed in, and makes for very accurate shutter trip w/o inducing camera movement. Shutter is very quiet.

I love the e-ink top sub lcd that retains frames remaining, EC settings (or not), and battery status even with the camera off. VERY nice.

Some have lamented the loss of the dedicated EC dial. I sure don’t. Setting the EC button to “toggle on and off” (which is remembered even with camera off) makes for very easy EC adjustment with rear command wheel. Since EC setting is visible in EVF, LCD and on sub lcd panel, there’s still obvious indication of EC settings. I like it better and am much less apt to accidentally adjust EC with this set up.

The Eterna Film Simulation is really nice, even for stills photos. I’ve not yet ventured into video.

I’m very pleased with this machine, it is a worthwhile upgrade to X-T2 based on my own preferences in ergos, the IBIS, the EC implementation, robustness of the body construction, and a lot of other small refinements like the push button (rather than fiddle slide button) for releasing the LCD for vertical tip-out, etc.

Mike G, thank you so much for your quick reply.  I'm on a 4-month-long cruise right now and we get to Hong Kong on the 19th.  As I do every year, I'll be going up to Wing Shing and purchasing a piece of Fujifilm equipment.  This year it'll be the X-H1.  I'm very excited about it as my T2 screwed up last summer in Russia and hasn't been the same since.  I've been using my backup, my Pro2.  I had no idea it was such a good camera!  I miss the flip screen and the AF Mode of All, but otherwise it's been fun to use.  People comment on the rangefinder look of it.

It's great that Fuji offer us a good choice of cameras. Differing models to suit the needs and preferences of the variety of people who shoot with Fuji. They can't get it perfect for all people all of the time, but they come pretty close! They focus on image quality and regular updates to firmware and in doing so give us Fuji photographer's a fabulous deal (imho).

Merlin, I would agree, I was just guessing what Fuji might say, a Mk 11 version is really needed, but Fuji don’t seem keen on doing that sort of exercise, which is a pity?
