  1. Hello internet friends, i just found an old flash that i have with an old Fujica STX 1n camera the flash is a "Sunpak Softlite 1600M" it had some dirty battery connectors but i fixed them and now is firing again, i would like to know if there's some risk of using this little old flash with my X-Pro 1 i understand that this kind of old flashes use a lot higher voltage than new ones so i'm really afraid to use it because i don't want to fry my camera, i like how it looks and feels because is really light/compact and i don't have to lug around my bigger nissin flash from my nikon system, sadly i don't have any tool to measure the voltage from the flash and i can't find too much info about it, i've only found about the 1600A not the 1600M. Thanks for taking your time reading this.
  2. To me Ken is like theonion.com of photography, just humor, i can't take his opinions or pictures in a serious way (well his product shots are good), i admit that i used to read his site and is not that bad as some people swear but it depends with the eyes you look at him, if you are expecting serious reviews, nope you aren't going to get them, if you expect some guy that only shoots jpgs and has the opportunity to try lots of cameras and write funky and exaggerated opinions then is ok i guess.
  3. I prefer some dust on sensor instead any potential damage on the shutter! But like i always say, almost every bad situation can be avoided if you are smart enough and a careful person, just take care of your equipment and treat it with respect, at the end of the day is an investment not a toy, i change lenses fast inside my bags always!
  4. I don't know about any parallax error about the X-Pro 2 but to me the X-Pro 1 was like a mixed experience, i bought it mainly for the OVF, image quality, the amazing fuji lenses and the "retro" controls/dials, at first didn't noticed any terrible parallax error, then i started to compose "in more critical situations" with my 35 1.4 and started to notice it was there, at first was kinda frustrating because i don't liked the idea of using the EVF, so i started to practice at different distances with the camera mounted into a tripod and i saw the error is only present at the bottom and the right side of the image, top and left line of the OVF frame are very precise in my experience, nothing really bad if you aren't extremely obsessive, i just got used to it so i know when im taking pictures that there is going to be a little bit more at bottom/right, so i recompose based on what i learned, not distracting, it just becomes second nature, sometimes i just crop the extra bit without any problems or regrets, i just use EVF when the subject is at one arm of distance or less and that is like the 5% of the time, the other 95% i'm enjoying the OVF. Important note!!! The OVF zooms in by default when i mount the XF35 1.4, i ALWAYS zoom out the OVF, that's maybe the reason why it is less precise to me, i just shoot that way because i like to see more context outside the frame, just to get more of the "rangefinderish experience" and that's the way i like it
  5. For camera specific bags i use only Acme Made, they used to make really high quality products and nice camera bags but as far i know they don't make them anymore, and that's kinda sad... i've got my grey Acme Made Montgomery Street Courier recently for only 15$ on Amazon because they are discontinued (new was like 70something), and the black Acme Made Messenger camera Bag for 50$ like 4 or 5 years ago, that bag has been tested and survived a lot with me so i can assure is good quality, i don't carry a lot of stuff, mainly Fuji X-Pro1 with 35mm 1.4 and extra lens, samsung tablet 4 8", otg adapter for sd, extra batteries, power bank, usb flash drives, sd cards, flashlight, some usb/audio cables and a yongnuo flash, in the gray bag instead of flash i carry a contigo mug full of hot coffee (instead of the tripod in the picture), perfect size for that btw, if you can get one of them for cheap as i did and if you don't carry lot's of gear to take walks around the city just with the right amount of things i really recommend them, for my Nikon system is another story i just use a Camo Herschel Supply Pop Quiz but this isn't a Nikon forum so...
  6. I'm not a big fan of photoshop, i only use Lightroom for my photography, i've never been fan of making multiple exposures or HDR at all but i admit that i've tried it sometimes, i guess everybody has their style or way of doing things, what is very fascinating to me is that some of the pictures in the gallery are well done and look really good, the only thing that is a very big NO to me is changing the sky or adding elements that weren't present at the moment, but that's just me and my opinion, apart from that the results are excellent.
  7. I actually own the 35 f1.4 and the 60 f2.4 macro, i love everything about the 35, even if i owned more lenses i know this would be the most used anyway, i would like to get the 18 f2 for general purpose and the rokinon 10 f2.8 for landscape and events, i'm not going to talk about any zooms because they make no sense to me with my x-pro1, maybe i would add a rokinon fisheye to have some fun but is not essential, with my fuji i shoot mainly portraits of my friends or documenting my life, blog, travels and that kind of stuff, for paid works i'm using my old but trusty Nikon kit, i almost forget to mention that if i had the chance/money i would change the 60 for the 56 because i'm using the 60 for portraits instead of macro, so in few words i would like to own Rokinon 10 f2.8 - XF 18 f2 - XF 35 f1.4 - XF 56 1.2 but that's just me.
